Nintendo Switch Sports is coming to the Switch 2 with a bit more of a tropical setting.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort was announced today for release on October 22. Twelve minigames were announced, including traditional sports like golf and basketball but also adding the... sport... of thumb wrestling (which received an extended demo).

Technically this is a very large portion of the game.
During today's Nintendo Direct, a brief trailer for Star Fox (2026) was shown featuring some new footage of a few classic bosses. The big news however was that the game will receive a free demo later today. The demo will contain the training mode along with the first stage, Corneria Meteo. The full game releases later this month on the 25th.

Seems like we can't get through a June Direct without announcements of announcements.
Today's Nintendo Direct featured new information, but we'll get even more soon.
A Splatoon Raiders-specific Nintendo Direct was announced in today's showcase to air on June 30 (time TBD). The new presentation was included in other events including a Nintendo Today-exclusive comic series and a Splatfest in Splatoon 3 July 10 - 12.

Seaking for More Adventures?
Nintendo and Koei Tecmo confirmed today that the smash hit Pokopia will be getting several updates with both free and paid downloadable content. In the first free update you gain access to the move dive, which allows you to explore undersea habitats and expand the towns underwater. The free update will be available in August.

Sadly, they did not mention pulling the gacha system out of XC2.
The Xenoblade series is going all out on Switch 2.
Today's Nintendo Direct confirmed a brand new entry in the Xenoblade series will be available next year. Known as Xenoblade Genesis, the RPG appears to be centered on a school.

Nintendo dodging August like it has 99 accuracy.
After a nine month wait, we finally have more details on Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave.
The strategy RPG was confirmed in the Nintendo Direct for launch on September 17, alongside new story details. The game will take place in the Dagdan Kingdom, with a focus on its capital Dagison, and players will follow a path from one of the game's four main characters.

The Nintendo Direct closer was one for the ages, specifically 10 and 17.
Nintendo confirmed a long rumored remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 as the final announcement of today's Nintendo Direct. Known simply as "Ocarina of Time", it will be out in 2026 but no further details were provided.

You'll see the upgrade policy and have a really awkward laugh about it.
The original corridor Final Fantasy and its girl-powered sequel are Switch 2 bound this summer.
Early this morning, Square Enix released a trailer for a Switch 2-native version of the Final Fantasy X / X-2 remasters, alongside a July 23 release date. The PS2 games came to Switch in remastered form in April of 2019.

And the next thing is in development.
It turns out Japan was a harbinger for Sea of Stars's Switch 2 version.
Sabotage Studios have brought the game natively to Switch 2 today, alongside GameShare support for the co-op turn based RPG from 2023. The base edition will also get a "Sunset" update with a new cinematic today which will be part of the Switch 2 version from day 1.

...please hold off on queuing for the Happening Bunker, it's still a mess after the past weekend.
Nintendo is wasting almost no time in following up the weekend's presentation-palooza with a Direct.
The first no-qualifiers-Direct since September 2025 will air tomnorrow at 10:00 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT / 1500 CET / 11:30 in Newfoundland. No length qualifier was provided in the Nintendo Today post, but the YouTube video indicates "roughly 50 minutes".

Featuring some odd ways to assert dominance this week.
After the seemingly endless list of requests for me to wishlist and play demos on Steam that was the Summer Game Mess weekend, I just want to play something now. Unfortunately, the quality options this week seem too low. There's the multiplatform Indie World game Unrailed 2: Back on Track, hopefully not Keita Takahashi's swan song as a developer in to a T on Switch 2, and maybe the Monday-dropping shooter Solarpunk.

The 40th anniversary of Castlevania is not going unwhipped.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse received a release date trailer in today's Xbox showcase, confirming an October 15 launch. Classic gameplay was shown in the trailer (below), including the beloved "whip a wall for health restoring meat" technique.

After years of rumors Spyro the Dragon is finally making a return in a brand-new game. Spyro: A Realm Beyond takes flight on Switch 2 in spring of 2027. The game is being developed by Toys for Bob, the studio behind the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. The studio famously split from Activision becoming independent from Microsoft shortly after Microsoft reached a deal to acquire Activision.

Somehow, it seems unlikely that either one of those were on anyone's radar this week.
The new Atari is going to two extremes with a remaster and a new game collection announced today.
After retail leaks earlier today, Atari officially confirmed a remastered edition of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee would be available for Switch 2 and Switch on November 3. The remaster will run the game under Unreal Engine 5, and the Switch 2 version will have a physical release.
