The King Nintendo Fanboy remembers a lost Nintendo tradition in honor of its 20th anniversary.

Twenty years ago, Nintendo of America was starting their online community on AOL known as The Loud House. This community let fans talk with Nintendo reps in chat rooms, participate in trivia contests, and allowed fans to just have a new and evolving interactive experience with Nintendo in a way that was previously impossible.

Splatoon and Zelda: Tri Force Heroes are just the start. Will we have to suffer without voice chat forever?

Nintendo has been playing around with online voice chat in their games for over a decade now. We’ve seen some Nintendo published titles take advantage of the popular online feature in better ways than others, but the support overall has left players wishing for more. Now, with Nintendo making more online focused games than ever, the company seems to be simply ignoring online voice chat when they need it most.

This series can soar, but is this the entry that will take off?

Star Fox 64 blew me away when it was released in 1997. The title was a complete package on the Nintendo 64, complete with full voice acting, replay value, multiplayer, and the Rumble Pack. I was hooked on this game for quite a while and even, at one point, had the game's dialog completely memorized. I couldn't wait for a sequel.

Nintendo of America is upsetting fans and losing potential money in the process.

Back in May, we first heard that the Nintendo World Store in New York City would be exclusively selling a Limited Edition version of Mario Kart 8 in North America. This special game variant came with the anticipated Wii U racer and a statue of the most iconic weapon in the game: a Spiny Blue Shell.

Smash Bros. players with Nintendo's new hardware are in luck.

Ten years ago, something special was brewing within Nintendo.

Ten years ago, Nintendo started a revolution that paved the way for some of their best-selling systems of all time. At E3 2004, Nintendo held what can easily be considered their best press conference ever. The GameCube was clearly struggling and the company promised to talk about a new dual screen handheld device.

A look at one of the biggest letdowns in an otherwise-fantastic book.

When Hyrule Historia first released in Japan, I was highly skeptical of the official Zelda timeline it presented, but I managed to keep an open mind. I can’t read Japanese and decided to wait for a translated version that would, hopefully, explain specific confusing events in greater detail. Well, after having time to read the English translation of the book, cover to cover, I still feel the official Zelda timeline has two major flaws.

Not so long ago, Nintendo of America (NOA) had two great means of communicating with its fans. NOA used both Nintendo Power magazine and NSider, Nintendo’s official online community, to talk with fans, build a community, and respond and interact directly to those most interested in its products.

Nintendo of America isn't making it easy, and doesn't seem to care.

Kid Icarus: Uprising came out in March. Even before the title hit store shelves, the official game trailers teased an AR card collecting element included in the game. Nintendo continued to whet the appetite of players hungry for AR cards by including sample cards with every copy of the game.
