Breaking news from the United Kingdom at this hour: Generalissima Elizabeth Windsor is still dead.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65535/nintendo-downloads-november-23-2023

Things we missed last week: In addition to the four shadowdrops from the Indie World (Backpack Hero, Enjoy the Diner, Howl, and Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist), the ridiculous and the sublime of the fighting genre also appeared with Taito's Dinorex (Archives) and SNK's King of Fighters XIII: Global Match.

And the reason we're focusing on last week's releases is because this week is kind of barren for bigger releases. In fact, the only thing that might qualify for most of you is the compilation of Jurassic Park games coming out in order to celebrate... well, the home video release of Jurassic Park 30 years ago. And even that boils down to how much you care about licensed games from the early 1990s, though I suppose it is a boon for game preservation.

Aside from that, Europe is getting an Irem compilation (which is probably also NA bound, but there's no listings on eShops for it yet), and they already have a Black Friday sale started which includes EA FC 24 (aka "the soccer game EA makes when they give a damn") half off, and other third party titles including The 7th Guest - just in time for a certain Retroactive. (25% off until 3 December in Europe.)

TalkBack / Indie World To Air November 14
« on: November 13, 2023, 04:23:39 AM »

Let's see if a Nintendo video bump gets you over the gobs of crapware on the eShop every week.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65488/indie-world-to-air-november-14

The second Indie World of the year is about a day out.

Nintendo have confirmed the show will run tomorrow at noon ET / 9 a.m. PT / 1700 CET, and will air for "roughly 20 minutes". It will cover both new announcements and updates on existing titles.

The last Indie World aired in April and gave dates to Oxenfree II: Lost Signals and Mineko's Night Market among others.

In honour of this week's big two releases, I wished upon a star that someone would steal Joanne's heart only to discover she ain't got one.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65434/nintendo-downloads-november-16-2023

Things we missed last week: A really busy week on that front with the headliners being Risk of Rain Returns (remaster of the strategy hit) and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, plus Konami's early brawler Shao-lin's Road as the Archives release.

There are of course, two major things that are not only fighting for my time as I take my last vacation of the year next week, but also the honor of the picture slot - so we'll settle it in Smash between Persona 5 Tactica and Super Mario RPG. Though thankfully, one should be short enough that I can dive right into the other if I'm not neck deep in a major video project for the entire week. This is one of the biggest known retail release weeks of the year though, with the coattails bringing along a Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm game, a Bluey game for the parents of young children in the crowd (hi Neal!) and a Konami-focused rhythm game that had a cameo in the last Direct. Of course, in Japan this week Konami will also be publishing the sequel to the best-selling third party game on the Switch and I'm not joking.

Life sim Spirittea is kicking off the week from No More Robots - and in the process bringing the release count for the year over last year's already-obscene 2086, though I suppose we could kick that can to Tuesday given the removal of a certain copyright-violating racing "game" from one of the asset flippers. Lastly, we have another new property from Inti Creates in Yohane the Parhelion, and if that gets dinged for trademark infringement like their last game did they need to retain better lawyers.

Wonder didn't come out as hard as Tears, but the holiday bump means we could have a new fiscal opening quarter champ.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65428/nintendo-investor-presentation-news-super-mario-bros-wonder-sales-mario-movie-attendance-switch-software

Nintendo is holding an investor meeting tonight following their second quarter results, and some items have emerged from the meeting notes:

  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the fastest selling Super Mario game in this century (or as long as Nintendo has tracked sell-through); through its first two weeks of sale, it has sold 4.3m units to consumers. A shipment number (to retail + digital sales) was not provided.
  • The Super Mario Bros. Movie - which was announced to have a box office take of US$1.361bn and total paid attendance of 169.84m tickets sold - has also generated 1.3x year over year increases in the sale of Mario games, and a 1.4x in the number of users of Super Mario Run and Mario Kart Tour.
  • Pikmin 4 sell-through as of October 31 was more than 2.5m copies; its opening quarter shipped 2.61m copies.
  • Following the success of this past September's Nintendo Live show in Seattle, the show will run in Tokyo this January with further 2024 stops in Taipei, Hong Kong, and South Korea (Seoul).
  • Updated figures were given for Nintendo accounts in general (more than 330m) and Nintendo Switch Online (38m).

TalkBack / Nintendo Announces Development Of Live-Action Zelda Movie
« on: November 07, 2023, 12:40:12 PM »

How many April Fools jokes just came true?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65427/nintendo-announces-development-of-live-action-zelda-movie

Nintendo's second film project is leaving animation and Mario behind.

A release on the company's investor relations page has announced that development has begun on a live-action film based on The Legend of Zelda franchise. Shigeru Miyamoto will be a producer on the film alongside Avi Arad, who originally founded Marvel Studios and has gone on to produce superhero films outside the Marvel banner - including critical smash Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse (2018).

The film's director is Wes Ball, whose credits also include the Maze Runner trilogy and the 2024 science fiction film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the movie and provide some of the budget, but a majority of the budget is supplied by Nintendo.

This despite a Wii U-esque quarter on the release front.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65426/nintendo-announces-financial-results-for-fiscal-second-quarter-of-2023-increases-expectations

Nintendo released their fiscal results for the second quarter of 2023-24 fiscal year today, and despite a low quarter in terms of output changes in the yen have caused their financial predictions for the year to go up.

All monetary figures quoted in yen, with a comparison based on current market rate of US$1 = ¥150.58 provided for clarification only.

Financial Indicators

Revenue: ¥334.896bn (~$2.224bn US), down 4.2% year over year

Operating Income: ¥94.649bn (~$628.562m), down 20.3% year over year

Ordinary Income: ¥126.241bn (~$838.4m), down 19% year over year

Digital Sales: ¥97.9bn (~$650m), down 1.9% year over year

Mobile/IP (film) Revenue: ¥23.2b (~$154m), up 184% year over year

Hardware Shipments

Total Switch shipments for the quarter totaled 2.93m units for a new LTD of 132.46m (21.56m to the DS, 26.24m to the PS2). The breakdown was 1.86m OLED (63.48%), 610k standard (20.81%), and 460k Lite (15.71%).

New Software Sales

Nintendo's sole releases in the quarter were Pikmin 4, which shipped 2.61m units in roughly 10 weeks of the quarter, and a compilation re-release of Pikmin 1 and 2 which did not ship a million units in the quarter. For comparison, last year's same quarter featured the launch of Splatoon 3 (7.9m unit opening quarter) and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (1.7m).

Catalogue Sales

16 games have shipped over a million units since April, of which 12 are first party. For the Switch top 10, Mario Kart continues to add onto its lead with 1.55m units shipped (LTD 57.01m), Animal Crossing shipped 590k (43.38m), and Tears of the Kingdom shipped 990k in its first full quarter (19.5m).

The full top 10 can be found here, including the Mario movie halo effect boosting New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe back into the top 10 ahead of Ring Fit Adventure.

Other Announcements

Nintendo has revised its financial forecasts upwards: net sales up 9%, operating profit 11%, and ordinary profit up 25%. This is due to the yen's depreciation, as 78% of their sales so far this year have been international (outside Japan), and the assumed exchange rates have been raised to 140 yen against the greenback and 150 yen against the Euro.

TalkBack / Super Mario RPG Remake To Get Tetris 99 Theme This Weekend
« on: November 06, 2023, 03:33:09 PM »

Probably the last one of the year for the other Nintendo 99.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65425/super-mario-rpg-remake-to-get-tetris-99-theme-this-weekend

About the only puzzle not represented in the original Super Mario RPG was Tetris, and now Nintendo is taking steps to rectify that.

Super Mario RPG will be the theme for the 36th running of the Tetris 99 Maximus Cup, which will run from 2 a.m. EST Friday to 1:59 a.m. next Tuesday. As with other cups, earning 100 "points" via placement in 99 matches will unlock the theme.

The preview of the theme is below:

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65424/nintendo-of-america-unveils-black-friday-offers-cyber-deals-to-begin-november-20

The headliner is a new Switch OLED bundle from November 19 (a week from Sunday) that will include the OLED model, a download code for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, 3 months individual Nintendo Switch Online, and Smash Ultimate-themed Joy-Cons for standard OLED MSRP (US$349.99). This joins the recently relaunched models for the standard Switch with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the Switch Lite with Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Another bundle announced for launch on Friday (Nov 10) will offer a download code for Super Mario Party and a set of red and blue Joy-Cons for US$99.99.

Game deals will also be available on November 19, with discounts on games both recent and classic:

  • US$39.99: Xenoblade Chronicles 3, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Luigi's Mansion 3

  • $19.99: Everybody 1-2 Switch

Lastly, Nintendo's press release confirms that the annual eShop Cyber Deals will begin on November 20, with games to be announced; although the games included in the Cyber Deals often include price matching of the physical deals there may be differences in Nintendo's selection.

A No-Prize to the first person in Talkback to find a) the game that made Donald pull out the document labeled "FYIO", and b) what that is an acronym for.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65391/nintendo-downloads-november-9-2023

Things we missed last week: Square Enix Collective title Little Goody Two Shoes dropped.

As tempting as it was to find out one publisher had leapt on all of the worst elements of the eShop (not even the same publisher, use of AI art) and handing in my resignation, we press on as it appears we will pass the 2022 total for North America next week. (Watch the shadowdrops take up my entire long weekend.) The biggest releases for me are the latest round of gunfire from the Otome Armada in Virche Evermore -Erro:R Salvation- from Aksys, though I might step down to the smaller releases of a pair of Double Dragons that should take them out of contention for the NSO libraries. Or Air Twister, the new game from Yu Suzuki aka the one member of classic Sega still making games since one's in jail and the other tragically DIED.

Smaller items this week; If you held a gun to my head I would have sworn up and down that Salt and Sacrifice was already out on the eShop, a deckbuilder in the vein of FTL called Cobalt Core that Jordan called his PAX West 2023 Game of the Show, and another Recharged game from Digital Eclipse owners Atari in Berzerk.

And yet you can still buy the DLC. Go figure?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65423/first-taiko-no-tatsujin-game-to-be-pulled-from-sale-on-november-30

The first Taiko no Tatsujin Switch game is about to bang its last drum.

Bandai Namco have announced that the 2018 release Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n Fun will be delisted from the eShop on November 30. Two TnT games - the Rhythmic Adventure Pack from 2020 and Rhythm Festival from 2022 - will remain available.

In a surprising move, Drum 'n Fun's DLC will still be available for purchase after the base game is removed, suggesting a licensing issue with one of the tracks included in the base game is the reason for the discontinuation. The tracklist includes Japanese pop songs, anime licensed music, and Vocaloid tracks (the full list can be found on the game's Wikipedia page).

Remind us again why something with similar stats to Lapras needed an evolution?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65370/indigo-disk-update-for-pokemon-scarlet-and-violet-launching-december-14

The final content update for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will land just before the start of winter.

The Pokemon Company International have announced that the update including the Indigo Disk DLC will be available on December 14. Previous promotion has only indicated "winter" for the launch.

Players will need to have cleared both "The Way Home" story (main game) and "The Teal Mask" (first part of the DLC) to access items such as catchable prior starters and battle a second Elite 4.

They're three Rainbow Roads short of a full set

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65368/final-wave-of-mario-kart-8-deluxe-booster-course-pass-launches-november-9-courses-revealed

The white flag is waving for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, and we have the final added courses.

Launching on November 9, the eight courses include Bowser Castle 3 (SNES), DK Mountain (Double Dash), Daisy Circuit and Rainbow Road (Wii), Rosalina's Ice World (3DS), Madrid Drive, Rome Avanti, and Piranha Plant Cove (Tour). Madrid, Rosalina's Ice World, Bowser Castle 3, and Rainbow Road are the Blue Shell Cup, with the other four forming the Acorn Cup.

All players will also receive a "jukebox" to listen to the music of all tracks, while Pass holders will get 16 additional Mii suits automatically and can unlock a Daisy suit by tapping a Daisy Amiibo.

TalkBack / Switch Twitch App To End Service On January 31
« on: October 31, 2023, 12:36:57 PM »

And if you're like most of the staff, you're thinking "wait, there was a Twitch app for the Switch"?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65367/switch-twitch-app-to-end-service-on-january-31

One of the more recent streaming apps on Switch is about to breathe its last.

A notice was posted today confirming that the Switch's Twitch application will no longer be available after January 31, 2024. No reason was given for the shutdown.

The Twitch app was released on Remembrance Day 2021, though recent layoff rounds at Twitch itself have apparently reduced the staff that would support the Switch version.

TalkBack / Atari Acquires Developer Digital Eclipse
« on: October 31, 2023, 05:09:10 AM »

Several orders of magnitude below Microsoft/ABK, but possibly as damaging.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65366/atari-acquires-developer-digital-eclipse

After dabbling in hotels and cryptocurrency, Atari appears to be re-focusing on games again - as evidenced by an acquisition of the developer of one of their best-received products.

Digital Eclipse, the game historian developer behind 2022's Atari 50 and this years The Making of Karateka, have been acquired by Atari. The deal will cost Atari up to US$20m.

In an FAQ posted on their website, Digital Eclipse confirmed that existing products (such as a remake of the original Wizardry released into Steam Early Access) and unannounced projects would not be affected.

Once again, none of the NES games came out in North America during the original run.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65364/nes-game-boy-switch-online-libraries-updated-with-seasonal-content-and-murasame-castle

A pair of Famicom games and the story-chronological start of the Castlevania series have been added to the standard tier Switch Online libraries.

Famicom/NES

  • Devil World (1984/87) is an infamous maze game that was also the first console-exclusive game developed by Shigeru Miyamoto, which launched in Japan and Europe but was blocked in North America due to Nintendo of America's pre-ESRB ban on religious iconography in games. The player must obtain crosses in order to eat the dots laid around the maze and breathe fire while the Devil (as featured later in the Smash Bros series as an assist trophy) can alter the visible play area to trap the player in between walls and the side of the screen.
  • The Mysterious Murasame Castle (1986) is an overhead adventure that was the second original first party title released for the Famicom Disk System (after the original Legend of Zelda). An overhead adventure title set in Edo-era Japan, the player has to slay four warlords and the titular Murasame in different castle with only a few power-ups and their wits. It was not released in North America for more than a quarter century, finally debuting in the form of a 3DS Virtual Console release in 2014.

Game Boy

  • Castlevania Legends (1998) was the third Castlevania Game Boy game, and at its initial launch was announced as the first Castlevania game in the series chronology. Starring Sonia Belmont, the game is a stage-based action platformer which provides standard series power-ups as well as a "Burning Mode" that can be accessed for ten seconds of invincibility once per stage.

TalkBack / Nintendo Downloads - November 2, 2023
« on: October 30, 2023, 04:00:00 AM »

The home office in Ecumsecum, NS is working on the "Top Ten Reasons Donald Bought A Steam Deck" feature. Last week had two of them.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65316/nintendo-downloads-november-2-2023

Things we missed last week: Because of the footnoted releases, North America AND Europe both set new records since the tracking was noted at 71 and 69 (not nice) respectively. Among the unlisted releases was World of Horror, the one-bit eye-stabby RPG.

Well, after that ginormous cluster*bleep*, this week is opening at a little less than half of that worldwide. The big deal is the discovery of who is replacing Charles Martinet as Wario - I hear TYP was available? - starting with WarioWare: Move It. Or maybe it's the last good full Star Ocean game before the series jumps off a clip with Star Ocean: The Second Story, or XSEED hiring Those Men at Syn Sophia for a fashion game in Fashion Dreamer.

For fans of toxicity, there's a new League of Legends RPG this week (review forthcoming), but I'd be more into the pair of Alien Hominid games (remake and new one) coming this week. Also Thirsty Suitors may SEEM like an Otomate special, but it's actually coming via Annapurna. Finally, battle royale rhythm game Headbangers: Rhythm Royale drops for those last-minute Halloween parties.... before we IMMEDIATELY get double teamed by the combination of Christmas creep and "Metroidvania" with Ebenezer and the Original World.

This is like getting an apple in your Halloween candy.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65312/mario-party-3-crashes-expansion-pack-n64-library-later-this-week

It appears 1080 Snowboarding is waiting for winter to join the N64 library of the Switch Online Expansion Pack, but we will be getting a game this month anyway.

Mario Party 3 - the last first party N64 release - will be added to the library later this week; although the video indicates a release on the 27th (Friday), it will likely appear in North America on the evening of the 26th (Thursday).

Elements of Mario Party 3 are included in 2021's Mario Party Superstars for Switch, but this will be the first time the game has ever been re-released.

TalkBack / Suika Game Updated, Adds English Text
« on: October 23, 2023, 05:16:45 PM »

Boy, that escalated quickly.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65310/suika-game-updated-adds-english-text

Although it was Japanese only before, one of the most out-of-nowhere eShop hits has had localized text added.

Known either as "Watermelon Game" or "Suika Game", the mind-blowingly popular streaming smash is now available with English support following its surprise North American launch last Friday. A seasonal (Halloween) theme was also added.

Since its Friday launch, the surprise Japanese hit has ranked alongside Super Mario Bros. Wonder in the eShop's top sellers.

I wish all Ubisoft executives and Bobby Kotick a very f**k you go to jail.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65252/nintendo-downloads-october-26-2023

Things we missed last week: Apparently HUGE in Japan, the Suika Game aka "that thing with the watermelons" came out worldwide. It doesn't have English text. Lay on, MacDuff.

This week is abnormally large by most standards - the tracking list has the highest "starting" total of the year, and even if we took out the things releasing in multiple SKUs it'd still be 52 games in NA. The most prominent of these is the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, for all your parroting stealth action needs (which in addition to the main bundle has three sub-bundles), though another game from Japan is basically taking one otome game and after crossing it with hanafuda of all things, split up the suitors into their own $35 - $45 game depending on the country. Uh, no thanks. Other items of note are the spiritual sequel to previous Switch RPG Crystar in Crymachina, and what would be in the top section if its boxed copy wasn't a code-in-a-box in the annual Just Dance release.

PC smash hit Dave the Diver (as featured in the last Nintendo Direct, there's a demo) headlines the indie releases, alongside a followup to the 2018 Switch (and 2016 3DS RPG that I actually reviewed) Ambition of the Slimes. The original version was quite mid, as I recall, but maybe this new one will be better. Then again, between Crymachina, the stuff in the sales, and Mario Wonder I probably won't find out for a while.

It's Sonic's 30th anniversary, and the blue blur is so, SO screwed.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65179/nintendo-downloads-october-19-2023

Things we missed last week: Early Konami puzzle (???) game Loco-Motion came to the platform under its Japanese name Guttang Gottong.

Ordinarily this week would be on a down note, which would be due to a game that glorifies drunk driving already being out following up with a game focused on Sonic's ****ty friends tomorrow. (Apparently Sonic Superstars is, as the kids say, "mid", but look for our review later to confirm.) But the week ends with something not seen on the Switch in nearly five years and in general in more than a decade; an artisinal, hand-crafted 2D Mario game in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Prepare the shrooms, it's going to be a bumpy ride for what is probably the biggest deal on Switch this year. (Somewhere, this is getting sent back to 1993 and someone at Babbage's is having their brain exploded by the concept of Sonic and Mario games launching three days apart on a Nintendo console.)

Also driving into stores are the second Hot Wheels Unleashed racer and Aksys dipping into the murder mystery space with Inescapable - a rare VN from them that doesn't have five suitors and an Idea Factory logo.

Smaller items this week include another Jackbox Party Pack - holy crap, there's TEN of them now - alongside the seasonable Hellboy Web of Wyrd, a multiplayer Illfonic special based on Ghostbusters, and Gargoyles Remastered which will surely live up to the standards of the era of which it came and not, I dunno, the mouse of today who needs to be broken up posthaste. Also, we have a real stretch of the term "collection" being used for a pair of old Boy and His Blob games... but the price is right, at least.

TalkBack / Voice Of Mario, Luigi In Super Mario Bros. Wonder Revealed
« on: October 13, 2023, 11:32:00 AM »

Martinet out, a new fresh face in.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65178/voice-of-mario-luigi-in-super-mario-bros-wonder-revealed

We appear to have the new voice of Mario in next week's Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

In a post on Twitter (the site now known as X for some insane reason), voice actor Kevin Afghani confirmed he was the new voice of both Mario and Luigi in Wonder.

Afghani's prior credits are limited; he was the character Arnold in mobile/PS gacha game Genshin Impact and additional voices in the "Secret History of Cuphead", as well as a title character in the Dragon Ball Abridged spinoff Dragon Ball R&R.

Kotick goes away in 80 days with a golden parachute instead of today in handcuffs.

After multiple government delays, the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard (King) has finally closed.

The deal, announced on January 18, 2022 closed this morning and saw the Xbox manufacturer acquire the Call of Duty behemoth for US$68.7bn. Integration will begin immediately, and notorious ABK CEO Robert "Bobby" Kotick will leave the combined company on January 1.

The deal was subject to multiple restrictions, including assurances from Microsoft that Call of Duty would remain multiplatform and even come to Nintendo platforms for a decade in some fashion. Restrictions include a UK requirement that Ubisoft handle cloud services for Call of Duty in the UK, and Microsoft games coming to other cloud platforms in Europe.

Riccitello to Sony (e5)

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65167/john-riccitello-resigns-from-position-at-engine-maker-unity-effective-immediately

A recent controversial change to the pricing structure of the Unity engine has apparently led to the ouster of the company's CEO/president/chairman.

Unity have announced in a press release that CEO John Riccitello (ex of Electronic Arts) has resigned as CEO, president, chairman, and member of the company's board "effective immediately". Riccitello's role at Unity will consist entirely of continuing to "advise Unity to ensure a smooth transition".

The company had been under fire in recent weeks due to announcing a controversial change to the cost of the platform which would have resulted of a fee of up to $0.20 per installed copy of the game as well as the mandatory addition of a "made in Unity" splash screen. The fees were later walked back, with personal Unity licenses being exempted and the fee being assessed the lower of a per-install charge based on self-reported installs or a flat 2.5% of revenue.

TalkBack / Nintendo Downloads - October 12, 2023

Now that Batman is doing the Batusi in December, it's good to know that we still have some heroes left - a whole company, actually.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65160/nintendo-downloads-october-12-2023

Things we missed last week: Darius II in the Archives.

I had a whole slew of references to the goddamned Batman lined up for this week's column, but then quality interceded to push those back to the end of November's column. (Good.) Left scrambling to fill the spot, we'll give the honour this week to Company of Heroes Collection as we try and find out if the Switch handles real time strategy as well as turn based. Also kicking off this week is the first licensed football game to actually feature future concussion sufferers Chris Henry, Patrick Mahomes, et al in Wild Card Football - as Neal reminded us last week on Connectivity, it has the NFLPA license, but not the actual NFL teams.

Serenity Forge - the madlads who got Doki Doki Literature Club+ running on Switch - are publishing a new RPG called Long Gone Days, which leads the indie rush alongside Day of the Devs star Saltsea Chronicles and a remastered version of DS horror shooter - talk about rare birds - Dementium: The Ward. For a certain level of indie, there's also a re-imagining of River City Ransom up for grabs this week.

TalkBack / Batman Arkham Trilogy Releases Delayed To December 1
« on: October 03, 2023, 05:37:00 AM »

One less charge to worry about on the old Bat Credit Card.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/65099/batman-arkham-trilogy-releases-delayed-to-december-1

A major Switch release originally targeting next week has been delayed past US Thanksgiving.

In social media posts this morning, publisher WB Games announced that the Batman Arkham Trilogy - originally slated for release next Thursday, Oct 12 - would now launch on December 1. The publisher cited "wanting to give Switch gamers the best possible experience" for the delay.

The Arkham Trilogy - 2009's Arkham Asylum, 2011's Arkham City*, and 2015's Arkham Knight - was announced for Switch release in the June Nintendo Direct. It was originally going to release ahead of Sonic Superstars (Oct 17), Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Oct 20) and the Metal Gear compilation announced in the same Direct (Oct 24).
