How coincidental that Nintendo Switch Online players get a stockpile just in time for the renewal.
The new releases are quiet, but given last week's unexpected Thursday shadowdrops among the dozen or so that came out, it's subject to change. Wait, I thought this was a 3rd party showcase?
Although today was a Nintendo partner showcase, a new Nintendo published game was announced.
Fitness Boxing 2, a sequel to the early 2019 release, will be available on December 4 with preorders open now. In North America and Europe the game is published by Nintendo.
Players will punch to the rhythm in this sequel which will have 23 songs to fight with, and save files from the original game will carry over.

And this is to go even further beyond!
NISA is bringing a Disgaea game to the Switch first, dood.
Disgaea 6 has been announced for Switch with a summer 2021 release. The main character Zed is a zombie who gets stronger every time he dies, and the game promises damage into the quadrillions and a max level of 99,999,999.
A Nintendo Switch Online trial of Disgaea 5 Complete will also be available from Sept 23-29.

Let's face it: there is no way we were going into a Tokyo Game Show without an upcoming Monster Hunter.
Monster Hunter is heading to Switch again in a big way.
Monster Hunter Rise will launch on Switch exclusively on March 26, as announced in the Partner Showcase. Hunters will have to stop monsters from rampaging and will be able to grapple anywhere in the environment.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, a sequel to the 2017 3DS release, will follow next summer.

Nintendo's last handheld-only platform has ended production after almost a decade.
A notice was posted on the Japanese-language Nintendo 3DS webpage today (available here) which roughly translates to "Production of the main body of the Nintendo 3DS series has been discontinued." This means the 2011-released handheld will no longer be produced, though online play will continue to be available and the eShop will remain for game purchases.

The reason why this was announced at 3:30 am ET will not be discussed.
The third in Nintendo's series of Partner Showcase videos has been announced.
The seemingly monthly series of videos will air the latest entry tomorrow (September 17) at 10 a.m. ET, 7 a.m. PT, 1500 BST, and 1600 CET.
No indication of any announcing companies has been made, though the timing is consistent with announcements prior to the Tokyo Game Show whose online version runs next week.

No new releases? No problem, just have ten of the top 20 games of the month.
The Switch continues its rampage through 2020 in the NPD Group's sales surveys.
All figures based on revenue/dollar sales from August 2 - 29 unless noted.
Hardware saw the Switch record the highest revenue for any console ever in an August, topping the total set by the Wii in 2008 at over a billion dollars US. A unit sales figure was not provided, though sales of the Switch more than doubled compared to last August.

The big, limited (for some reason) release of the week is of course Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which combines two revolutionary 3D platformers with the game that cost me a job in college and is largely considered to be as good as the system it called home. Sega has unveiled new details about the Adventure mode in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2.

The game formerly known as Gods and Monsters might be flying a little too close to the sun with that name.
The former Gods and Monsters has received a release date and a character creator to go along with its new name.
Now known as Immortals: Fenyx Rising, the Greek myth-themed open world game revealed at the last E3 will launch on December 3. Players will be able to design a character in the game, including choices of gender and skin tone.

Scott was kind of unpleasant to women and tried to change, which puts him one up on the publisher.
One of the last great licensed games is coming back on sale, including a Switch release.
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: Complete Edition, a new release of the brawler based on the comic series and movie, will come to Switch this holiday. It was originally sold on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in 2010 to coincide with the film, but was delisted in 2014. The Switch version will includes Knives and Wallace as playable characters.

The promised "2020" release date for No More Heroes 3 has been forced to slip.
Director Goichi Suda and developer Grasshopper Manufacturer both have confirmed the news on Twitter in recent posts, indicating the delay to 2021 following development setbacks from the COVID-19 pandemic and a need for additional polish.

We can finally see what happened in the century before Breath of the Wild.
A new Hyrule Warriors game is going to tell the story of the Great Calamity later this year.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is now available for preorder with a launch date of November 20. Designed to tell the story of the events that led to the state of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild, this new adventure is developed by Koei Tecmo in association with Nintendo.

Music playing and RPG creation headline a busy week on the shops.
James gave a heads-up on the big game of the week on Friday if you missed it: RPG Maker MV will consume hundreds of hours for stuff that realistically, won't take that long to play. But you might be able to make the next Corpse Party out of it? Other hot stuff this week includes rhythm game Avicii Invector and platformer Tin & Kuna from Aksys.
