Mario Kart was just demoed at the Gamers' Summit with 16-player cooperative play!

The news from Europe about Mario Kart being 16 players was correct. Nintendo has just demoed Mario Kart: Double Dash with co-operative play. One player drives the kart, while the other controls the items and sliding (as well as attacking other players to steal items). Eight GameCubes can be connected for LAN play, and with co-operative play, this means up to 16 people can play (there is an eight kart limit).

Nintendo has updated the Official F-Zero Website with some new information on the first F-Zero GX Championship. Starting September 25, players will be able to post their top times on the F-Zero GX Global Leaderboard to determine who is the best F-Zero player in the world.

As if you hadn’t played it enough the first two times, Pokémon Red & Blue/Green is getting a facelift for the GBA!

First released in Japan in February of 1996, Pokémon Red and Green (Blue overseas) was the Game Boy game that triggered a worldwide phenomenon. Dengeki Online has revealed that Nintendo and Game Freak are remaking the genre-defining twosome for the GBA in Pokémon Fire Red & Leaf Green. Nintendo's R&D1 director and Wario Ware creator talks about Miyamoto, GBA 2 and the next Metroid game.

During their ECTS rounds, CVG managed to tackle Nintendo's Yoshio Sakamoto, tie him to a chair, and interrogate him about the goings-on at Nintendo. The Brits managed to wrangle some pretty interesting information out of him, although Sakamoto-san did sort of side-step the tough questions, as you can see below:

The ECTS 2003 Awards were presented yesterday with Nintendo picking up awards in two categories.

This year's ECTS awards were presented yesterday afternoon on the show floor.

The first category is "Best of Year", which includes "Game of the Year" awards for the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Scandinavia that are voted for by readers or the editorial teams of a media outlet from that country. The award for "Game of the Year UK" went to Pro Evolution Soccer 2 by Konami.
