Free up 248 blocks of memory for the free Wii Channel download and you'll be able to watch streaming video, download DS demos, and even purchase games online.
Supposedly, the Nintendo Channel was set to launch for American Wii owners on May 12, the same date that Nintendo's WiiWare Service is scheduled to become available. Instead, it appeared for download early this morning. Users will discover a bevy of features in Nintendo's latest offering, but first they'll have to make space in their Wii memory.

The game includes an array of puzzles with a progressive level of difficulty.
Crosswords DS is officially shipping to retail outlets today. The title features over 1,000 crossword puzzles built for skill levels ranging from beginner to expert. In addition to varying difficulty levels, a hint system is included to aid the player when stuck on a particular puzzle.
Crosswords DS is the latest in the popular Touch Generations line of Nintendo DS games.

First track pack to launch shortly after Rock Band’s release.
When Rock Band was officially announced for the Wii a few weeks ago, downloadable content was still an uncertainty. It appears now that it is unlikely to happen, as Harmonix and MTV Games plan to release the downloadable tracks from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions as a series of track pack expansions on discs for Wii.

Take on racers worldwide in challenges provided by the Mario Kart Channel.
Nintendo is offering tournaments for Mario kart Wii players worldwide to compete in. The tournaments appear in the Mario Kart Channel, which can be installed via the Mario Kart Wii game disc. Each tournament will take on a unique shape, requiring the player to perform different feats to the best of their ability. The first tournament was made available last Thursday, and Nintendo plans to offer new challenges every few weeks.

Based on the Rubik’s Cube license, Rubik's World is slated to release this fall.
The Game Factory announced that Rubik's World is being developed exclusively for Wii and DS. Rubik's World is a 3D puzzle game that "keep[s] the Rubik’s Cube[‘s] core values alive."
Featuring online play across the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, both versions will allow players to connect to a community of Rubik's World players. The Wii version will support up to 4 players and will also feature an online message board.

Majesco Entertainment and developer Hoget have announced the July release of a new puzzle game for the Nintendo DS. The gameplay concerns matching pairs of like animals, rolling them around obstacles and into each other to clear the game board before time runs out. The CEO of Nintendo has the graphs to prove it. Also, Nintendo will up Wii production to 2.4 million units in July.
Instead of simply sticking to the numbers on revenues and profits, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata used an end-of-fiscal-year briefing to address a variety of issues. He touched on increased Wii supply, third party game sales, industry beliefs he felt were obsolete, and Nintendo's new goals going forward.

Nintendo's fitness tool bests Mario Kart Wii as its fastest selling piece of software ever in the UK, generating the third-most revenue for a game launch in British history.
Only two weeks after the runaway success of Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo UK has made history once again as Wii Fit has displaced the multiplayer racer as the company's fastest selling game for the British market. Due to strong demand and sales, Iwata reports that there are no plans for price cuts this fiscal year.
Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata reported in an interview with Reuters that Nintendo currently has no plans to decrease the price of either the Wii or the DS this year.
The already computed earnings projections for the year were not calculated with any price cuts in mind, according to Iwata. Strong sales of both consoles along with strong consumer demand leads Nintendo to believe that price cuts for either system are unnecessary.
