Pokemon Go’s new Friends feature, which enables the trading of Pokemon and items, will start rolling out this week, Niantic announced today.
Trainers over level 10 can trade with friends within 100 meters. Trades require stardust and may produce extra candy based on the distance between where the Pokemon were caught. Trading and battling in gyms or raids together will contribute to a Friendship Level that grants bonuses.

Complete with leaderboards.
Super Mario Party has added a new mode that will bring the series online for the first time.
The new Mariothon mode will allow up to four players to compete in sets of five minigames, either locally or online with friends or random players. There will be leaderboards and other rewards for participating in the online modes as well.

The arcade version of Donkey Kong isn't the only lost arcade title coming back.

UPDATE: Nintendo of America has confirmed the release on Treehouse Live, available now. NA pricing will be $7.99/$9.87, and they have claimed it is the first re-release of the arcade version since 1981. Original story follows.

Since two million of you downloaded Fortnite, know that there are other releases this week.
Despite all logic, there are a bunch of games coming out this week despite the Fortnite-shaped crater in the room. In the E3 shadowdrop department there's Fallout Shelter, Hollow Knight, and the prologue for Octopath Traveler/Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion. There's also Paladins releasing if you're into the hero shooter.

The classic Mario outfit isn't your only reason to hop on.
The character roster will be expanding monthly in Mario Tennis Aces.
Treehouse Live revealed that at least two characters - Koopa Troopa and Blooper - will be made available in free updates. Koopa Troopa will land on August 1, and Blooper will follow on September 1.
There will also be additional online tournaments in July and August in which high scorers can earn early access to the characters.

There goes another hundred hours!
After Disgaea 5 Complete last year, the next game in the series will return to its roots on Switch.
Disgaea 1 Complete is a remastered version of the 2003 PlayStation 2 RPG, which was also used as the basis for the Disgaea DS game. The remaster will launch on Switch October 9 in North America, and 12 October for Europe.

The point-and-click adventure classics are due "in the coming months."
Last night Double Fine Productions announced that it is bringing LucasArt's classic 1998 point-and-click adventure title Grim Fandango to the Nintendo Switch last night. The game maker also committed to a Switch release of the 2014/2015 crowdfunded Broken Age, a modern day return to the point-and-click genre. Neither game has an exact release date, only promised "in the coming months."

Let's not lose our heads, though!
Two old friends will come to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as a part of the Expansion Pass.
In a demonstration of the pass's Challenge Battle Mode, Shulk and Fiora from the original Xenoblade Chronicles were revealed to be selectable Blades for the mode.
The mode is a time and level-limited series of battles where the goal is to earn treasure by collecting Ether Cubes after defeating enemies. It will launch Thursday night/Friday morning.

Yoshi for Nintendo Switch (working title) was a no-show at the E3 2018 Nintendo Direct. If that surprised you given the game's 2018 release window, there's good reason it's absent from the spotlight: It's now due to come out in 2019 instead.

The game maker's slate includes Dusk, AMID Evil, Tonight We Riot, and Super Galaxy Squadron EX Turbo.
It was amidst Nintendo's big E3 Direct showing that New Blood Interactive chose to make their move: the indie dev just announced on twitter that "we're bringing ALL of our games to #NintendoSwitch."

And you'll need a headset, but not an app.
It won't take a fortnight for party chat to come to the Switch version of Fortnite.
During a demonstration on Treehouse Live today, Epic confirmed that the new Switch release will have party chat running starting "Thursday morning" (US time).
A standard cell phone headset will work for the chat, provided it can plug into the Switch's headphone jack.

The world ends in nuclear war, and then you wake up in Shibuya.
The Nintendo Direct today had a reel of 3rd party titles with known release dates, but three additional titles got new windows.
Tencent MOBA Arena of Valor, The World Ends With You: Final Remix, and Wasteland 2 all received Fall 2018 release windows. Previously, Wasteland was "a few months out", TWEWY was a generic 2018, and Arena of Valor was still in beta.

GungHo's mystery game made its public debut during the Nintendo Direct today.
Ninjala is a 8 player, team based shooter where the weapons are made from bubblegum and mastering parkour is necessary for survival. The game is scheduled to release in spring 2019.
Among the development staff for the game are developers from the Dissidia Final Fantasy series, Let It Die, and The World Ends With You.

We know one can't be too big because Detective Pikachu and Mega Yarn Yoshi exist.
The Smash Amiibo line is about to get an ultimate refresh.
Treehouse Live has shown pictures of Ridley and Inkling Amiibo in the Smash Bros. series. A Daisy amiibo will also be coming, but was not shown. Additionally, the Japanese Nintendo website has mentioned amiibo coming for characters returning from previous games who have not yet received their own figures, including Pichu and Ice Climbers.

Yes, everyone. Even the third party characters. And him. And her.
Super Smash Bros. for Switch will be the biggest crossover in the history of video games.
Every character who has ever been playable in a Smash Bros game - even DLC, or characters like Ice Climbers and Pichu, will be playable. Although the initial roster will be based on the original game, the unlocking of characters will be streamlined. In addition to the new Inklings, the other new fighter in the game will be the long-awaited Ridley.

Dragon Ball 2D fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming to Switch in 2018, Nintendo announced today.
The popular Bandai Namco fighting game spans the Dragon Ball universe and pulls its art style straight from the anime. Dragon Ball FighterZ originally launched in January 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Octopath still looks beautiful.
Octopath Traveler's second demo is coming June 14, Nintendo announced today. The highly anticipated SquareEnix RPG features a branching story with eight playable characters.
The developers previously detailed changes implemented after getting feedback from the first demo. Octopath Traveler launches July 13.
