Nintendo hopes the initiative will help WiiWare and DSiWare market grow.

At a recent Q&A session at an earnings briefing, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata confirmed to investors that they would begin a test program for WiiWare demos later this month.

According to Iwata, Nintendo hopes that this initiative will get more players to invest in WiiWare and DSiWare titles. The president admits that the current market for downloadable games on the Nintendo systems is small, filled with players who invest in games they already want. Iwata, however, believes that this isn’t necessarily the solution to the problem. The test will apparently only apply to certain titles.

Nintendo has yet to officially announce the program, and it is currently unknown whether or not it will be available in all regions.
