It appears the post-E3 war of words has officially begun and in the opening volley Nintendo escapes unscathed... UPDATE

While not dealing specifically with GameCube it always pays to keep an eye on what the competition is doing. In this case, Sony's president Ken Kutaragi has taken an almost Yamauchi-ish approach in slamming down the newest kid on the block, Microsoft.

But apparently it isn't only Sony's illustrious president that had bad things to say about the X-Box. Even more fuel is thrown onto the fire with the following statement:

No surprise here, just a happy confirmation.

Moreso than even his previous glowing articles, this new write-up by our buddy Steven Kent shows wisdom lightyears beyond the drivel the rest of the mainstream press has been spewing. While much of the article really deals with the PS2 (and not all in a negative light), the central message of the piece is absolutely worthwhile.

Stop bugging us! We're not selling...but there's people selling their E3 press goodies, and squishy Nintendo GameCubes and GBAs...for a price.

E3 was rather lackluster when it came to swag. In comparison to last year, companies really scaled down the amount of free stuff given to attendees.

Nintendo is running a new GBA ad, with a little surprise inside!

According to Mike S' fiend, Kai, Nintendo has started running a new Game Boy Advance ad. The ad was spotted on Tuesday the 22nd on ABC around 10:30pm(eastern). The ad starts with Mario and then it flahses a bunch of screen shots. After that it shows the GBA with a release date underneath. Then it shows a gamecube with the words "comming this fall" underneath it. If any of you PGC readers have any more info, tell us in the forum!

A large E3 special will be hitting cable tonight! Grab some popcorn and Mountain Dew and hit that couch!

At 8:30pm Central Time tonight, Tech TV will be airing a special about E3 2001.

Exactly what they will show is unknown at this point, but it should give you a good general feel of what E3 is all about.

Not that it (cough) will get all that close to the in depth coverage that is on our E3 2K1 CD. :)

A First Person Adventure from Rare? A secret game was shown behind closed doors and while we didn’t see it & there are not many specifics, here’s what we do know…

During E3, Tendo Box reported hearing about a mysterious Rare game being shown behind closed doors. Apparently, the game is similar to Rare’s previous platformer games, yet in the third-person. TB’s sources also mentioned the game looking very similar to Perfect Dark and possessing a very sci-fi feel to it.

Ok, folks ... more video from the PGC trip to E3. First, is Madden 2002 running on GameCube. The game is very early in development, and some of the animations are a bit rough yet, but here you go.

Next up, here's a shot of the ACTUAL GameCube hardware, in this case, running the Pikmin demo in a surround-sound booth. It's dark and mystical, with a bit of a playful glow. You don't want to miss this one.

Today, the Gaming Intelligence Agency posted a story about Bomberman coming to GameCube, a game announcement snuggled in NOA's E3 press materials:

It's difficult to find, but Nintendo's GameCube press material makes a brief mention of Bomberman for the upcoming system. Absolutely nothing about the title is known so far, though it will presumably be developed by Hudson Soft.

Throughout E³ we continually heard that there would be seven 1st and 2nd party titles by the end of 2001. Now we can tell you exactly which ones they are.

I'm not sure if I believe that Star Fox Adventures will make the launch. It seemed to be less polished than the rest of the E3 stuff, but it may have been those stages only. If I'm not mistaken, they showed the same parts of the game that they showed on the N64 last year.

We have a list of 14 confirmed characters and intelligent speculation on how many and what secret characters you can expect!

At Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference, the first GameCube footage they showed was of Super Smash Bros. Melee. The second half of the clip revealed 14 playable characters, and after playing the game and re-examining the clip, we can give you a pretty good idea of how many secret characters there will be, and who they are.
