Game Developer Magazine now has its E3 interview online, and Miyamoto confirms what we’ve all expected.

Gamasutra, Game Developers Magazine’s online division, recently posted its E3 interview with legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma, and lead DS hardware designer Kenichi Sugino. The article is an interesting read, with discussion of game and hardware design, Four Swords, and the competition, but most newsworthy is Miyamoto’s comment on Nintendo DS’s multiplayer:

Resident Evil 4 Delayed? GC

Online retailers are indicating an early 2005 release for the GameCube-exclusive horror sequel.

Numerous online retailers, including EB Games, GameStop, and Amazon, have recently updated their Resident Evil 4 information with release dates in early 2005. GameStop is predicting a release on January 3, while EB Games and Amazon have listed February 1.

Goku Gets More Handheld Games GBA

Atari announces two new action games not based on Dragon Ball Z.

According to Atari’s own web site, Atari has two more Dragon Ball games in the works for the GBA. The first, Dragon Ball: The Red Ribbon Army Saga follows the memorable adventure of young Goku as he overcomes an entire army to reclaim his grandfather’s heirloom—a dragon ball. The site mentions no further details.

Swingin' Ape Takes Over Starcraft: Ghost GC

Blizzard hands over the game's development to the studio behind Metal Arms.

Blizzard has released a brief note to the media, stating that Swingin' Ape Studios has been hired to complete development on Starcraft: Ghost. The game's previous developer, Nihilistic, parted ways with the project a couple of weeks ago. The agreement with Swingin' Ape Studios also means they will be working on other multiplatform games once Ghost is completed, which amounts to confirmation of more upcoming console titles from Blizzard.

The End is Near for Acclaim

The once-elite publisher is losing money, losing franchises, and is almost about to lose everything else.

Acclaim has released its financial report for its fiscal year ending on March 31st, and the numbers aren't good: In the past year, the company has lost $56.4 million. (Then again, they lost $84.4 million the year before, so it's not that bad...) These massive losses don't bode well for the credit line, and if Acclaim doesn't find a new source of money to help counterbalance these debts, they'll have to file for bankruptcy.

Nintendo's online summer camp is back for more fun! This will be the 10th year Nintendo has done Camp Hyrule. The idea is simple. Nintendo has created a virtual summer camp where fans can hang out and chat with each other. There are also all sorts of contests and games to play. This year's camp will start on August 16th. There is currently no indication of its ending date. In the past camp has run for a week.

EFF Challenging Nintendo Emulation Patent

The group is calling Nintendo a "big bully," and asking that the patent be re-examined.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation is launching what it calls the Patent Busting Project, a campaign to recall patents awarded to large companies that are detrimental to the well-being of public domain. One of the companies listed in their "Top Ten" is Nintendo. They recently patented Game Boy software emulation, amid some controversy and some legal action on the part of some companies.

Nintendo of Europe's Managing Director will leave Nintendo soon and join mobile entertainment publisher Digital Bridges.

Nintendo have announced today that Nintendo of Europe’s Managing Director David Gosen will step down at the end of August. Having been with Nintendo for the last five years, he was involved with the releases of the GBA, the GBA SP, and the GameCube. After his departure, he will join Digital Bridges, a mobile entertainment publisher, as Chief Operating Officer.
