Microsoft’s software development kit allows designers to build games for the Wii Remote.
Hot on the heels of Microsoft’s announcement that their first party IP Viva Pinata would be making an appearance on DS, the Redmond-based software behemoth demoed an extension for it’s proprietary software development kit, XNA, that adds support for Nintendo’s Wii Remote as an input device. The extension, which was released in March, is known as Managed Library for Nintendo's Wiimote and was coded by Brian Peek.

Weekly sales figures show Nintendo sailing strong.
Weekly Japanese sales figures from Media Create indicate that Nintendo’s stranglehold on console sales is continuing strong through the otherwise slow days of summer. For the week of July 30 through August 5, the DS Lite sits head and shoulders above other hardware offerings accounting for half of all consoles sold with 135,729 units taken home by Japanese gamers. The Wii brings up the second spot with 61,498 units sold.

Once thought to be canceled, Nintendo says otherwise, announcing the title would be exclusive to Walmart stores nationwide.

Super Metroid is set for a re-release at last.
It's been several months since any images have been uploaded to the Channel earlier than their respective games' release dates, but now screenshots for six games have been uncovered on the Wii Shop Channel. The first two are RPGs, Shining in the Darkness for Genesis and Neutopia for TurboGrafx-16, both of which have already been released in Japan.

A bunch of small changes add up to a nice update. Also, the Wii Shop Channel gets a face lift. Update: Looks like USB keyboard support is in, too, but unlicensed discs are out.
UPDATE: Reports from around the Internet have revealed that this new firmware update also supports USB keyboards for text input in the Wii Message Board area. We have confirmed this to be true. Four games for Europe and eight games for Australia and New Zealand lack any Nintendo titles.
Four games released today on Europe's Virtual Console conspicuously missing any Nintendo system titles. Three of the games originally come from the Sega Genesis. Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Dynamite Headdy, and Shining Force are now available in all PAL regions. Shinobi III is the only game not yet available worldwide; it has not yet seen a North American release.

Sega has announced a Japan release date and also a Ghost Squad and Wii Zapper bundle.
Sega has not only announced that Ghost Squad for the Wii will be released on October 25th in Japan, but also that it will also be available as a bundle with the Wii Zapper (apparently, you can also purchase the game without the Zapper). Nintendo accounts for over 70% of consoles sold in Japan last week.
Total Gamer Zone, reporting Japanese hardware sales figures for the week of July 23-29, shows Nintendo’s market domination in its home country is as strong as ever. The DS Lite leads the pack with a reported 150,494 units sold while the Wii follows in second place with 77,169 consoles sold. The DS Lite and Wii combined are responsible for just shy of 74% of all console sales for the week.

It turns out the Smash Bros. Dojo isn't the only place where we can find out new details on everyone's most anticipated game. Karmarama will be the new force behind Nintendo's creativity in advertising.
Advertising agency Karmarama will soon be in charge of Nintendo's $26.5 million advertising account. Marketing Week magazine got the scoop, stating that the firm has apparently won the account over three other ad agencies. Some of Karmarama's previous and current clients include Amstel Beer, Goodyear Tires, the History Channel and CNN.
