Donkey Kong! Again!
This might be a light week, but I'm still playing catch up on the recent two-hit combo of Pikmin 3 and Mario & Luigi: Dream team, so I certainly don't mind.
To make up for the lack of new titles we're being treated to some decent discounts on some of the better Wii U eShop titles, so be sure to scoop those up if you're trying to fill your time between now and the explosions of games coming to Nintendo platforms in October.

The title is coming, but WayForward isn't rushing.
Mighty Switch Force 2 will come to the Wii U eventually, although currently there is no huge rush.
The developer WayForward has told Nintendo Everything that, "It's kind of a backburner project right now." Although, WayForward hopes to make an announcement sometime over the next few weeks.
Mighty Switch Force 2 came out on the Nintendo 3DS in June. A PEGI rating revealed a Wii U version about one month later.

Weekly challenges, time trials and the Hall of Fame are what's in store with this new community.
Nintendo has launched the Mario Kart 7 UK Community application on Facebook, as a community hub for weekly Grand Prix competitions and time trial leaderboards for Mario Kart 7 on Nintendo 3DS.
Beginning tonight, a new community code for a special Grand Prix will be issued every few weeks via this new app, giving UK players a chance to compete for glory and earn a place in the Hall of Fame, which will gain a new addition every month.

Nintendo's Taiwan branch is releasing five Doraemon-themed 3DS systems, to be distributed via a contest.
Purchasing a copy of Doraemon: Nobita’s Number Adventure, a math game being localized and published by Nintendo of Taiwan, gives you a chance to win.
With only five being produced, this will be the rarest 3DS system so far.

GameStop says they plan on bringing back more "vintage" titles including Metroid Prime Trilogy.
Xenoblade Chronicles has reappeared at GameStop and is being sold used for $90.
On August 10 Xenoblade Chronicles, a hard to find title, reappeared in GameStop stores and on their website. When contacted by Joystiq about the matter, GameStop released a statement saying that it is in response to PowerUp members, and that they "were recently able to source a limited number of copies."

Toy Box mode characters coming in October.
Disney Interactive has unveiled their Toy Story in Space play set featuring Buzz, Jessie and Woody at the D23 Expo, making it the sixth Play Set they've unveiled.
Beginning in October new characters for Toy Box mode will begin rolling out including Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey and Rapunzel as well as characters from Wreck-It Ralph, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Phineas and Ferb.

Price isn't the reason for poor Wii U sales, according to Iwata in a recent interview.
While speaking to Computer and Video Games Iwata went on to say that if "price is actually the an issue with [the Wii U], then there is some contradiction between the current sales balance between the Basic and Premium versions."

UPDATE: Wii U owners worldwide can get a taste of the forthcoming action title on the Wii U eShop today.
A demo for Platinum Games' The Wonderful 101 is now available to download from the Wii U eShop in Europe and Japan, ahead of the game's PAL release on August 23.
The demo is said to take 1537 MB of storage space to download. Platinum has confirmed on their official website that the demo will be coming later in North America, which receives the full game a few weeks after, on September 15.

A slew of upcoming digital-only Wii U eShop games developed by European and Australian independent studios were showcased during the recent EU Nintendo Direct broadcast.
