Disney/Pixar team with THQ

THQ snags the rights to make games based on the next 3 Disney/Pixar movies.

THQ has announced they signed a deal with Disney/Pixar to make games based on the their next 3 movies. THQ has acquired the game rights for "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles," and "Cars."

This deal allows THQ to make games based on these movies until 2008 for the PC, as well as Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft consoles.

Tomb Raider Talent Creates RPG for GBA GBA

Three members of the Tomb Raider team have left Core Design to form Gatehouse Games, and develop Spiralstone, a multiplayer RPG for GameBoy Advance.

Nintendo and HAL Laboratory will be holding the Smash Brothers DX Orchestra Concert on August 27 in Tokyo. The New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra will perform melodies from classic Nintendo games such as Zelda, Metroid, and Mario. Tickets will cost 3000 yen (around $25 US) and go on sale on June 17.

Developer Puzzlekings will be the first company to use Intrinsic's Alchemy development platform on a GameCube title.

Puzzlekings' ZooCube, a 3D puzzle game due for release on GameCube very soon, will be the first GC title to use Intrinsic Graphics' Alchemy middleware. Puzzlekings is using Alchemy to create the graphics for ZooCube. Alchemy is designed for multiplatform development, but so far ZooCube has only been announced for GameCube among the three next-gen consoles. (A GBA version is also in the works.)

XenGamers has a translation of a recent Famitsu interview with Nintendo Director Satoru Iwata. He describes this year's software as the 'strongest lineup in history' for Nintendo and gives his perspective on recent delays.

What's interesting is that Nintendo seems to opening up a little more than in the past, allowing games to be shown in playable form earlier in the development cycle.

Clone Wars debuted at Star Wars Celebration GC

One of our readers ThX-1138 was on hand to witness the unveiling of the GC version of Star Wars: Clone Wars, and we've got the first shots and details inside!

ThX-1138 sent me these pictures from the Star Wars Celebration II in Indiana.

The game was demonstrated with GameCube hardware, and showcased 2 vehicle based missions. The pictures above show Anakin on a speederbike type vehicle. According to ThX-1138 it's a racing type level. The other part shown was a tank based level. So far no space missions have been shown.
