Red DS Announced for Japan DS

Hot on the heels of April's Candy Pink and Turquoise Blue DS systems, Nintendo has quietly announced plans for a sixth standard DS color for Japan. Simply labeled Red, the new color will launch on August 8th, coinciding with the release of Jump Super Stars.

Details on Wireless Connections & Downloads

Iwata confirms downloadable classic games will not be free, Nintendo-branded DS hot-spots, downloadable DS demos, and more!

Today Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that Nintendo will operate one thousand wireless access points in Japan to encourage the growth of its online Nintendo DS games. Iwata also confirmed strong third party support for Nintendo's online strategy, with "25 software makers" pledging their support for the online gaming service.

Splinter Cell: CT for DS Goes Gold DS

The third game in the series is ready for its DS debut.

Ubisoft announced today that Splinter Cell Chaos Theory for Nintendo DS has gone gold. The game has already been released on many other platforms, including GameCube. The DS version is patterned closely after the console versions, right down to the gritty 3D graphics. However, the DS version has far more extensive multiplayer features than the GameCube version, which lacks the popular online mode found in the Xbox and PS2 versions.

Nintendo DS Headed to China DS

Bomberman DS NOT Delayed DS

Contrary to reports, the dual-screened bomber bash is still releasing this month.

This morning, the Internet was thrown into a frenzy when Ubisoft's product page for Bomberman DS listed the game with a release of October 2005. Given that the game was due out this month, it seemed strange that the game would be delayed for that period of time, given its simplicity.

One of Sega's biggest booth attractions at E3 is a fifteen-minute reel of next-generation footage. While all of the footage shown is either confirmed for Xbox 360 or undecided, the sequence ends with a lengthy teaser for a new Sonic game. Since Sonic has been consistently well-received on the GameCube, it will most likely appear on the Revolution (though it was clearly running on an Xbox 360 alpha kit).

Nintendo Shows Off DSpeak Voice-Over-IP DS

First info on Nintendo's take on the Voice-Over-IP phenomenon.

There isn't a lot to say about DSpeak just yet, as it is a very limited demo here at E3 2005. DSpeak will work over the Internet using WiFi (which is how it was set up at the show), and you will be able to get alerts when you friends come online, similar to an instant messenger program.
