Nintendo's Japanese website reveals a new form factor for the Classic controller that takes it even further in the traditional direction.
The classic controller has always been Nintendo's link to the past, a traditional input setup that's been supported in some Wii games, and necessary for many Virtual Console ones. Nintendo seems to believe that the controller's role is still an important one as their Japanese website has just revealed a new controller, the Classic Controller PRO.

This week has a mix of flavors: port, remake, sequel, and spiritual sequel. The rhythm game downloadable content ranges from Bob Seger to The Cars.
The final week of February 2009 had some decent releases despite the Wii selection being slim.

Marvelous' CEO is interested in the "the more hardcore platforms," but the company has embraced the Wii due to business realities.
In a recent interview, Marvelous CEO Yasuhiro Wada explained that his company's projects were very Wii-heavy because projects on the other consoles "require a lot of technical skills" and because his company didn't have "enough money" to pursue them.

The new wired Kama with rumble and Pistol Grip Gun will take use of the Wand's patented Trans-Port technology.
Nyko announced last week that they plan on releasing two new accessories for the Wand, following its release during the second quarter of 2009. Both the Wired Kama with Rumble and Pistol Grip Gun will use The Wands patented Trans-Port technology which will digitally replicate the input commands of the A and B buttons.

The urge to push the sequel "as far as it could be pushed" kept the game off of Nintendo's console.
After two major success stories on the Wii, the Resident Evil franchise is skipping Nintendo's console for Resident Evil 5. According to Producer Jun Takeuchi, the reason why is that the team "really wanted to push the next part of the series as far as it could be pushed."

Hudson's WiiWare first-person shooter and three Commodore 64 games make up this week's games.
After last week's tease of Commodore 64 games coming to Virtual Console, it is now a reality. This week sees three Commodore 64 games: The Last Ninja, International Karate, and Pitstop II. For WiiWare, the lone game is Hudson's first-person shooter, Onslaught, which is the first of its kind on WiiWare.

The popular DS series is headed to Wii, and producer Kentaro Hisai has revealed a number of new details through an IGN interview.

This week features, among others games, two DS titles that have never been released in America before. There is also a handful of Wings and Nirvana songs for rhythm game fans.
After a virtual storm of hot Wii releases in the first two weeks of February, Nintendo's system has cooled down slightly this week with Battle Rage, Puzzle Challenge & More, and Solitaire & Mahjong. However, the DS brings some big RPGs in Dragon Quest V and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, both of which are remakes of games that have never before been released on western shores.

The new handheld will launch in Europe just before it arrives in North America, with pricing yet to be confirmed.
Nintendo of Europe has announced that the DSi, the latest revision to the hugely successful Nintendo DS line of handheld gaming platforms, will go on sale across Europe on April 3 – two days before it arrives in North America. The system will be available in black and white at launch, just as it was when the DSi made its global debut in Japan during November of last year.

Sakurai and co. are making new games, and they won't be casual.
Revealed through a recent "Iwata Asks" interview, Masahiro Sakurai, best known for his work on the Smash Bros. series, has formed a new studio called Project Sora. The development studio will be a second-party subsidiary of Nintendo, which will own a 72% stake, and has actually been operating out of Tokyo since January this year.

With a price point of $169.99, the DSi is launching alongside Rhythm Heaven sooner than anticipated.
This morning Nintendo announced the official release date of their upcoming DS revision, the DSi. The unit will be available in North American stores April 5 with a MSRP of $169.99. The system will launch in two colors, Matte Black, a color already available in Japan, and a brand new Matte Blue color unique to North America.

The acclaimed Virtua Tennis series debuts on Wii with numerous tennis stars, over 40 court environments, and online play.
Sega recently announced the development of Virtua Tennis 2009 for Wii. Not only will this be the first Virtua Tennis game for a Nintendo home console, but it also has the distinction of being the first tennis game on Wii with online play. The first two weeks of February saw a nice spread of games, ranging from House of the Dead: Overkill and Deadly Creatures to Retro Game Challenge and Drivers' Ed Portable.
Due to my excursion to New York City for the 2009 New York Comic Con, last week's Game Releases article got a bit held up. This week's article will cover every game that has come out in the past two weeks.
The first week of February saw the release of a handful games for the Wii, such as Tecmo's Rygar: The Battle of Argus and Ubisoft's Tenchu: Shadow Assassins. The DS similarly saw a few releases including three from Ubisoft.

In late 2007, Yoshi and Miles "Tails" Prower faced off against one another for the first time in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, which has sold over 10 million units across the globe.
