Despite fears following the passing of former president Satoru IwataNintendo will continue the Direct format for news distribution in their own time.

In a statement to IGN, Nintendo said "Nintendo Directs will continue, but we have no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered" indicating there are no plans for a video soon.

Aside from the E3 Digital Event, the last Direct videos were held in May and June of this year for Japan and North America respectively. A similar hiatus was seen last year between June and November, but there were game-specific Direct videos during that time.
