Hardware sales for 3DS also see an uptick.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS managed to sell over 705,000 copies in its first two days on North American shelves.
Despite launching on October 3, Super Smash Bros. for 3DS managed to push enough copies to become the fourth best-selling SKU in September's NPD sales chart. 135,000 of those copies were sold digitally through Nintendo's eShop, which accounts for over 19% of the sales.

A Mario Kart: Double Dash!! track is a part of the upcoming DLC pack.
Yoshi Circuit from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is coming to Mario Kart 8's first DLC pack, which is out in November. Yoshi Circuit also appeared in Mario Kart DS.
The pack includes eight new courses, three new characters, and four new karts. The new characters are Link, Tanooki Mario, and Cat Peach.... Read more...

Putting it on the eShop is just too easy.
Apparently Nintendo really enjoyed the early demos they gave away for Smash Bros. 3DS, because they're doing it all over again. To build hype for the upcoming release of Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, Nintendo is distributing a free, though somewhat hard to get, early demo. Unlike the Smash Bros. demo, Nintendo is offering six different ways to acquire the new Pokémon demo.

Now that Link figure can be used in more than Smash Bros.
The Link Amiibo will be compatible with Hyrule Warriors according to Nintendo's Twitter account.
There is no word yet as to what exactly the Link figure will do in Hyrule Warriors or if the Zelda Amiibo will also have compatibility.
The Link Amiibo launches alongsides Super Smash Bros. on Wii U on November 21. Hyrule Warriors came out last month and it's first of multiple DLC packs came out last week.

50 things about the game you didn't know before will be revealed then!
A Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Live-Stream event this Thursday will give new insight on the upcoming title.
In a press release issued this morning, Nintendo announced that the event will take place on its Nintendo Direct page this Thursday at 3 p.m. PT. The press release noted that there will be 50 new things about the game that will be shown during the stream.

The Wii U version will include an exclusive board game mode.
Amazon leaked a new board game mode for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
According to the site's description for the game:

Looks like face plates don't beat screen size.
Thanks to sales figures published by Famitsu, we can now see that the vast majority of Japanese gamers have picked screen size over face plates.
Over the course of the systems launch weekend, the standard sized New 3DS sold 61,151 units while the larger New 3DS LL managed to sell a whopping 172,332 units. That's nearly three times the sales of the standard New 3DS.

Sakurai hints at dropping some bombs regarding the console fighter in the near future.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will have way more to offer over the 3DS version, according to the game's director, Masahiro Sakurai.
When asked about the differences between both versions, Sakurai told Famitsu that an announcement is in the works for the Wii U version that showcases "the true potential of Smash Bros.", possibly in the next Nintendo Direct. He did not offer a specific timeframe for the announcement.

Nintendo's setting the spooky Halloween mood with...Kirby?
New Virtual Console titles are heading to Nintendo's platforms later in October, as revealed in today's Nintendo Downloads press release.
In addition to the previously announced Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, set to release on Wii U Virtual Console on October 23rd, Nintendo revealed the following set to come on Devil's Night (October 30).

Sizable Wii U eShop releases make up most of today's update.
There are a fairly large number of Wii U eShop releases as well as a slew of sales coming to Nintendo platforms in the coming days. The Castlevania love continues in the form of Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance on the Wii U Virtual Console. Pyramids 2, the followup to one of the eShops earliest download titles is also out. A Fantasy Life puzzle is now available in the Mii Plaza's Puzzle Swap service.
The puzzle appears to contain the standard 40 pieces which includes 8 StreetPass only pieces.
Fantasy Life is set to release on October 24 in North America.

Link is trading in Epona for a shinier model.
The Mario Kart 8 DLC coming later this year will feature the Master Cycle, a horse themed motorcycle made just for Link.
Revealed on their Twitter this morning, Nintendo of America touted the bike as having "plenty of horse power." The bike is decked out with Triforce hubcaps as well as a Hylian shield for side protection.

Both Mega Steelix and Mega Glalie have appeared in the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire demos, out now in Japan and Europe. Mega Steelix is reported to gain the Sand Force ability and Mega Glalie boasts the skill Refrigerate and is a pure Ice-type.

English or Japanese? Only one could be featured in the game.
The official spoken language in Mighty No. 9 will be English, as decided by the game's Kickstarter backers.
Last week a survey was distributed in which a choice could be made between English and Japanese Voice Acting. Due to the large cost of voice work, only one language could make it to the final game.

You can now go to Nintendo's website to download select Nintendo-published games directly to your system from an Internet browser as long as you connect your Nintendo Network ID. If you don't, you can still buy games, but you will have to redeem a code on the system's eShop.

Many Pokémon fans won’t have to do a thing!
A North American download code for the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version will be e-mailed to everyone signed up for the Pokémon Trainer Club who has opted in to receive promotional messages.
The code will be e-mailed shortly after October 20 as part of the October Pokémon Trainer Club Newsletter. So those wishing to obtain the demo had better register before that date.
