'Tis the Season for the eToys 2004 Holiday Hot List

New Barbie Dolls and Cabbage Patch Kids Join High-Tech Toys on Children's

Must-Have Lists This Season

DENVER, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Kids of all ages will clamor for this year's

hot toys, which range from a singing Elmo to the Nintendo Dual Screen

System, according to the toy industry experts at eToys (www.etoys.com). The

one-stop shop for children's toys and video games online, eToys features one

of the largest selections of hard-to-find specialty toys, engaging

educational toys and the holiday season's most popular toys. The online

retailer announced today its picks for the hottest toys this holiday season.

The eToys 2004 Holiday Hot List highlights twelve toys sure to be on every

child's wish list this season. Among the picks are the Nintendo Dual Screen

System and VideoNew Color Personal Video Player, the latest innovations in

electronic toys and new items from favorite brands, such as Mattel's Barbie

as Princess Anneliese and E-L-M-O Elmo from Fisher-Price. The list also

features Cabbage Patch Kids, a re-introduction of the dolls that sparked the

craze in the 1980's. Just like the original, each one of the 17 million new

Cabbage Patch Kids is unique, and comes with a birth certificate and

adoption papers.

"Each year our buyers, who have collectively more than 100 years of toy

buying experience, make their selections for the season's top toys," said

Michael Wagner, eToys Direct CEO. "This sneak peak of the season's must-have

toys lets gift-givers take advantage of early season promotional offers and

order the hot toys with ease on eToys.com."

Entertain me, RoboSapien!
*Picks up wallet, hurls it out the window and grooves out the front door to dance in front of oncoming traffic*

VideoNow Color Personal Video Player (Hasbro)

Yeah, they cost like four times the amount of a GB Video cartridge and usually only have like three Britney Spears music clips. Good job, every little boy will want one.

Ahahahahaha. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

KDR_11kOctober 14, 2004

The DS is as cool as Cabbage Patch Kids! Wait, that isn't a good thing, is it?

Jdub03October 14, 2004

Wow the ds can compete with tickle me elmos and lolly jolly ju ju bears. This makes me very happy.

UncleBobRichard Cook, Guest ContributorOctober 14, 2004

The E-L-M-O thing is... strange. He supposedly spells out his name... but when he moves, he looks absolutly nothing like the letters that he's trying to make (the closest he comes is the "M"...)

Yeah, I'll take a DS over the ELMO...

Ian SaneOctober 14, 2004

I like seeing commercials for the VideoNow Color Personal Video Player. It makes this big deal about watching movies whenever you want to and watching them "my way" or some crap like that only to have this quiet voice say "only plays Videonow discs" at the end. Who buys sh!t like this? My parents would NEVER be so stupid as to buy a non-standard kid friendly piece of electronics.

But then when we were young my brothers and I didn't ask for sh!tty toys. ELMO? F*ck that. When we were kids we hated Elmo because he was some relatively new character trying to steal airtime from vets like Bert and Grover.

UncleBobRichard Cook, Guest ContributorOctober 14, 2004

Unfortuantly, those Video Now things sell like hot cakes.

Which is why Nintendo/Majestco needs to get stores to stock their GBA videos in the same section as the Video Now discs/players...

KDR_11kOctober 14, 2004

If VideoNow sells, UMD movies should have a chance, too...

Ian SaneOctober 14, 2004

"If VideoNow sells, UMD movies should have a chance, too..."

Apples and oranges. VideoNow targets kids. Kids are often pretty f*cking dumb and will get their parents to buy all sorts of crap. UMD movies target adults. Adults are not quite so stupid. There's a difference between buying some cheap POS video player thingy to shut your kid up and buying proprietary movies for yourself.

VideoGamerJOctober 14, 2004

Very true Ian Sane.

As for the target range for the DS (labeled all ages), it's all true until a kid swallows a stylus >_<

NinGurl69 *hugglesOctober 14, 2004

Then you'll just have to give them MAN-SIZED 12in/30cm stylus "control wand devices".

Quoted for truth. Elmo was crap back then and worse now.

"HEY KIDS!"
*14 minutes of Elmo giggling to his alarm clock*
"WE SURE HAD FUN TODAY!"

Jdub03October 14, 2004

I hate elmos little furry arse. Almost as much as the snuggly soft bear
