Hey, did ya miss me? While Billy was packing up for his new job at Game Informer, he put me in a “cozy” little cage at the kennel… and then he forgot to get me out! A year and $5000 in lodging fees later, I’m once again a free kitty, and none too keen to go back and live with that oaf. Nintendo of Europe discovers girls love Game Boy Advance, and decides to do something about it-—at least in Spain.

Nintendo has long claimed girls make up a large percentage of its handheld market. Today, NOE’s Spanish division posted a press release revealing its plans to further tap into the female market. It seems NOE is especially confident of the market potential in Spain, and aims to prove its point with Game Boy Advance SP, dubbed the GBA SP GE.

Soul Calibur Heads to Big Screen GC

Oh look, another wildly popular and successful videogame brand is about to be horribly ruined by Hollywood!

Anthem Pictures (a Sony Pictures unit) and producer Warren Zide have acquired the rights to create a feature film based on Namco's Soul Calibur game franchise. Zide will be producing the film along with Craig Perry, reuniting the team that brought the American Pie and Final Destination movies to theaters.

NES GBA Might be Right Around the Corner GBA

It looks like America might get their own retro-styled GBA SP soon.

According to Game Informer Online, Nintendo just might be planning to release a new Game Boy Advance SP system designed to look like the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. The system will probably be released this summer, in a move similar to the Japanese launch of the Famicom styled Game Boy Advance SP. The inner part of this NES GBA SP will be designed to look like the original NES controller.

More Twin Snakes Website Updates GC

Konami Japan has re-launch the official website for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Also, check out the first commercial for the game.

With the Japanese and US releases of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes quickly approaching, Konami has decided it's time to take the wraps off the game's final website.

The new site supports a complete redesign and a new tagline "MGS that surpasses MGS." Although it's been re-launched, the entire website has not yet been completely updated. Some areas, such as the Mission Records still have their content "coming soon."

Wowsers! North American GameCubes in short supply?

In an interesting turn of events, Nintendo of America today stated that its reservoir of GameCube consoles has nearly run dry. Nintendo news hounds may remember a time when Nintendo discontinued their console’s production in order to clear a backlog of unsold systems. It seems last year’s price cut certainly did the trick! NOA is now looking to acquire more units from international waters.

All in all, not a bad night for Nintendo!

The British Academy of Film & Television Arts was established in 1946, and is the UK's leading organisation for honouring the very best in film, television, and interactive media.

With this in mind, on Wednesday February 25th the Academy held its first ever BAFTA Games Awards. Focusing purely on the games industry, it turned out to be a good night for both Nintendo and a handful of other related GameCube/GBA publishers.
