Gamasutra.com has an informative interview with Hip Tanaka, the man behind the music for many NES greats.

Discuss it in Talkback!

Gamasutra.com recently posted an interview with Hirokazu 'Hip' Tanaka. For those who don't know, Tanaka currently heads Creatures Inc. (of Pokemon fame) and began his career in the video game industry with Nintendo composing music for classics like Metroid, Kid Icarus, and Balloon Fight; just to name a few. Below is an excerpt but for the full interview, check out Gamasutra.com or pick up the October 2002 issue of Game Developer magazine. Note that to read the full interview, you've got to register with Gamasutra first (don't worry it's free, and worth it if you're interested in making games).

If you think games cost too much, Fair Play wants you to stop buying games for the week 1st December to 8th December.

Discuss it in Talkback!

Everyone cringes when it comes time to buy a new game. £40-£45 ($70US) is always hard to stomach, even for the well off. Video games have traditionally been viewed as a kid's hobby, so why have the prices skyrocketed past what most kids earn in allowance or odd jobs? The Fair Play campaign aims to fix that.

The campaign, based in the UK and headed by a number of industry professionals and concerned consumers, aims to cut the price of videogames and draw attention to the problems they see with the current cost at which they are sold.

The kid pictured in our Lizard Lick story over the weekend has some serious hardcore fans.

Discuss it in Talkback!

Yes, it's a slow news morning here on Planet GameCube, and we've uncovered an even more disturbing link dealing with the disturbing "Lizard boy" picture we posted this past weekend.

This is very disturbing...if you can't tell.

At the Yoshi / Clash of the Tongues event held this weekend in Lizard Lick, North Carolina, there was a child that got his picture taken while he was getting his tongue measured.

Like Castlevania music and electric guitars? You came to the right place.

As many of our readers may remember, around E3 PGC made many mentions of OverClocked.org because the beautiful remixes found therein were used throughout our E3 2002 DVD. Since then, I've been wanting to create some remixes of my own.

*cliché warning*

Fast-forward a few months and I've just finished my third remix (the first two were not GBA or GameCube related so they weren't posted here). I originally intended to finish this remix in time for the release of Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance, but forces conspired against my free time forcing me to delay its release until now.

Get ready for the most ambiguously obscene Nintendo promotion EVER.

Discuss it in Talkback!

Lizard Lick, North Carolina is set to be the location of "Yoshi's Clash of the Tongues", where on September 28th, contestants will vie for the title of "Ultimate Licker." Other titles include the "Lengthiest Lick", "Most Imaginative Lick", and "Most Daring Lick".

We can't make this stuff up, folks.

Of course, this is all to promote the release of Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island. A Nintendo prize back will be awarded by Yoshi himself to the highest scorer. The mayor of Lizard Lick has marked the day as a town holiday ... "Yoshi Day". An official proclamation will be handed to Yoshi by the mayor in comemmoration of the event.
