UPDATED! GameCube hardware changing up some specs? It's NOT a rumor - it's old news & Billy musta missed it the first time round.

This is an unconfirmed report, but The Magic Box is reporting that there may be a switching up of a few things...

- UNCONFIRMED: ATI has revealed the latest specs of some of the GameCube core components. The GameCube processor Gekko will be upgraded from 405Mhz to 485Mhz, and the MPU Flipper will be lowered from 202.5Mhz to 162Mhz due to the faster processor speed, and the DSP is assumed to be 81 Mhz. As a result, the bus speed will increase from 162 Mhz to 202.5 Mhz. The embedded 1-T RAM from NEC will have a capacity of 3MB, at 10.4GB/sec, the outer 16MB 1-T SRAM will run at 81MHz, at 2.6GB/sec.

UPDATE: Actually, the Magic Box is incorrect in that it is unconfirmed. The change was confirmed in NOA's press materials handed out at E3 and PGC reported on it over two weeks ago.
