It’ll be playable at E3 & it’ll be awesome – that’s about all we knew about RS2…UNTIL NOW!

Ever since it was first seen at SpaceWorld 2000, we have been collectively drooling over the prospect of Rogue Squadron 2 – a game that is increasingly looking to be every Star Wars fan’s dream.

Now, thanks to C&VG, we have some of the first details about the game:

"It’s unbelievable," a source told us today after seeing screens from Rogue Squadron 2 on Gamecube. "It gave me goosebumps. There are going to be three playable levels at E3. Honestly, it makes Star Fighter [Activision’s PlayStation 2 title] look like a joke. You look at it and say immediately, ‘That is Star Wars’."

Talk is surfacing of advanced AI, the ability to control wing-men from your X-Wing, sections where the player takes on the role of monstrously famous anti-hero Darth Vader, a plot focused on two Death Stars and graphical detail as yet unseen in a Star Wars game. The Force, to paraphrase Mr Guinness, is certainly with Nintendo.

2 Death Stars. TWO DEATH STARS?!?

Previously, we had heard from Factor 5 that a “death star run” would be seen at E3, now it looks like there could be two. C&VG rightly speculates that Rogue Squadron 2 will be one of the biggest attention getters at E3, though it won’t be alone.

“Expect at least 10 Gamecube titles, reportedly including new versions of Mario, Zelda and Pokemon, in addition to Rogue Squadron. Read that last sentence again.”

PGC will have some more about Rogue Squadron 2 very soon.

(Thanks to joopNL in our forums for bringing this to our attention!)
