They're still releasing things on 3DS Virtual Console. Shocking.

Nearly a year after its last release, three more games will come to the 3DS Virtual Console.

Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow versions will release on the Nintendo eShop on the 20th anniversary of the games: February 27, 2016. The games will be true to the original games, glitches and all - except for trading, which will be handled by the 3DS wireless connection instead.

The Japanese versions will offer a physical release on the same day that includes a download code, a magnet in the shape of a Game Boy cartridge, stickers and a Kanto map.

So we can get Pokemon from the 3DS virtual console onto the newer games or is it just limited to the VC titles?

Aside from the obvious nostalgia, is there a reason to get Red or Blue over Yellow? Isn't Yellow the same but better? I've never played it so I don't know what differences it carries over Red/Blue.

Those games haven't aged well at all.

You start with a Pikachu and it makes the first gym insanely hard. The ground type nullifies electric attacks and there isn't any Pokemon available that can dish out super effective attacks. At least Charmander's fire attacks can do good damage still. Aside from that? I think you just have a Pikachu follow you around and wild Pokemon encounter differences. There might be more then this, but I don't know off the top of my head

About time!
but why now and not like, I dunno at the FRCKEN LAUNCH OF THE WII U!

and yeah I have to agree with Soren the games have not aged well.

The fact that better games have preceded them doesn't stop them from being some of the best gameboy games. Oh and this is only for 3DS, not for Wii U.
If you get Yellow you get Charmander, Squirtle AND Bulbasaur!

I am totally getting Yellow, as I never had it as a kid. Might also get Blue, too...

Despite the games being old as dirt, they occupy a powerfully nostalgic place in my heart.

They never mentioned price. Where they had to change it and it's not just a ROM I'm guessing $15
