The Wii U version will include an exclusive board game mode.

Amazon leaked a new board game mode for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

According to the site's description for the game:

"Whether you’re creating stages on the GamePad, competing in challenges crafted by Master Hand and Crazy Hand, or outwitting your opponents in a brand new board game mode, there’s no doubt that the ultimate Smash Bros. game has arrived. "

What are you hoping for out of this mode?

If it plays anything like Monopoly, we will all hate each other at the end.

Amazon also leaked the stage editor. For the love of Jebus, no generic stages.

The board game mode is probably the Smash World they found in the 3DS audio file.  The Master Hand and Crazy Hand challenges will be the Master Orders and Crazy Orders.  So with these audio leaks coming true the Wii U is also looking to have a Boss battle mode and 8-Player Smash mode as well.

Here's the audio files for anyone that hasn't heard them.

50 turns or no sale.

Also, I suspect this version's Stage Builder will be locked down to prevent, uh, accidents.

Sounds promising, looking forward to seeing more.

A board game mode in Smash could be great.  Especially if there is a lot of interesting challenges.

I hope not. I want to play Fatal Frame 5, and I have a slight suspicion that the game's bad sales in Japan mean we won't get an NA localization.

This has piqued my interest. What are you both referring to? I'm unaware of the reference and would like to learn more.

One of the ways to hack the Wii & Wii U to install the Homebrew Channel was to place the Homebrew Channel file on an SD card, delete all your custom Smash Stages in Brawl, and then try to load stages from the SD Card. As I mentioned, you can currently use this same trick on the Wii U with Brawl to install the Homebrew Channel in Wii mode, but there's no way to do that with the normal Wii U mode...yet. *eyes the Wii U Smash Bros*

Happy to hear the stage builder is back. I had a lot of fun on some ridiculously stupid level designs.

isn't there the fact that they make you format any memory device you intend to use with the Wii U that would prevent that sort of thing from happening...?

Nah, that should be a pretty easy thing to work around. The hurdles will be that the Wii U has tighter security than the Wii and also has more constant updates, as well as the lack of sales means lack of interest from the homebrew community (though Smash may change that last one). There actually already are some hacks for Wii U, but, I don't know how possible it would be to create a universal application like the Homebrew Channel due to the way updates work and such.
