Renegade Kid Founder Details Status on Projects

What's up with Treasurenauts and the Razor games in development?

In a developer blog detailing Renegade Kid's latest game, Xeodrifter, founder Jools Watsham gave details on other projects in development at the studio.

The biggest change comes to a game featuring the Razor line of scooters that seems to be dead due to "publisher issues outside of our control" according to Watsham.

Treasurenauts is still in development, but not being actively worked on at the moment. "We were working on Treasurenauts – and it was progressing really well – then, one day I got a bee in my bonnet to make a metroidvania game" he wrote.

"I am really excited about Treasurenauts, and look forward to returning to it."

Cult County, also mentioned in the blog, is not being actively worked on at this time.

I for one am waiting for Treasurenauts!

Is it just me or does Renegade Kid have trouble with finishing projects? They announce something cool, show a demo of it, get people excited, then when they get into the crunch they seem to give up and the projects become vaporware. I love their stuff, but maybe they should just finish Treasurenauts and Mutant Mudds 2 before moving onto any thing else.

Agree 100%

As someone who has been keeping close tabs on the developer ever since Mutant Mudds jetpacked into my heart, I can agree with the sentiment here- Renegade Kids is very jumpy about their IPs. It seemed, to me, that the lukewarm receival of Treasurenauts was met with some more development time to flesh out the content and concept, but instead they've abandoned it for Xeodrifter- which, mind you, sounds like a cool idea, but the discussions of length and the lack of progress on Treasurenauts make me skeptical. I'm not a fan of the episodic release schedule of Moon Chronicles and I hope this doesn't turn out to be another half baked idea like Cult County.

My faith in the developer who made one of my favorite 2D platformers ever is being tested.
