Now YOU can be in the next Smash Bros. game, and you can play as Palutena from Kid Icarus!

Mii Fighters and Palutena from Kid Icarus have been announced as challengers for the upcoming Smash Bros. games.

The Nintendo Digital Event kicked off with this announcement. There are three different types of Miis: Brawlers, Sword Fighters, and Gunners. Brawlers will use no weapons and get up close for fights. Sword Fighters will indeed use swords. Gunners will be equipped with gunlike weapons. 36 special moves will be implemented for each Mii.

Palutena was revealed at the end of the Digital Event. Not much was shown, other than her using a variety of special moves, including creating black holes.

Widely expected, so no surprise. Hopefully they aren't silent like the Miis in Mario Kart Wii were.

I'm glad the new characters are not huge megaton annoucements I want to be surprised with a few when the game releases.

Mii's are a great choice and Palutena was leaked months ago, still fun to have more women fighters.

Palutena = beast mode

Her debut video made her look ridiculously overpowered, more so than the other new challenger debuts.

Surprising, yet not surprising.

Mii Fighter is a poor idea.

Wasn't Palutena predicted by one of the NRW staff?

I half expected them to announce a Smash Bros Anime after that trailer.

The introduction with Reggie and Iwata duking it out was awesome.

I like how he even states in the video that Mii fighter was in response to all the fan requests its like Nintendo saying shut up and just play the damn game we made.

I'm indifferent to the Mii Fighters. I don't care for them, but I can understand why they're there and why their presence has value.  I'm happy, though, to see Palutena in the game (though I wish it was accompanying a version of the most recent Kid Icarus on Wii U that was actually playable). Smash needed more female representation, and Palutena was a pretty cool character from what little I played of the 3DS game.

I LOVE that Palutena calls all her attacks out loud and they're are Kid Icarus: Uprising powers: heavenly light, fireworks, mega-laser and so on.

I just want Ray.

Why is this hard?

Or even, a smash level set in the Disaster universe would be hilarious.

Ray should be an assist trophy. When he's activated he and the bear come on screen wrestling, causing havoc and collateral damage.
