The sequel to Renegade Kid's first eShop game will add boss battles.

Renegade Kid is planning to make a sequel to Mutant Mudds, their first eShop game, and release it in early 2013, according to Renegade Kid Co-Founder Jools Watsham.

The sequel will retain the 2D platforming of the original, which is set to finally hit Europe next week, but will add boss battles.

Like the original, the sequel will contain five worlds, but this time there will be five levels in each instead of four. The fifth level in each world will be a boss battle. Watsham explained that the boss battles will serve as a punctuation mark for each world, as you'll be required to beat each of the four levels in a world before taking on the boss, and the next world will remain locked until you beat the previous world's boss.

Renegade Kid is currently wrapping up their next eShop game, Bomb Monkey, which is set to come out at the end of June or early July. After that, they are planning to release ATV Wild Ride 3D in the fall, and possibly another title before the year is out. They are also waiting for Ignition to release Planet Crashers 3D.

Talkback

FUCK YEAH!!!!!

The original is probably second only to Super Mario 3D Land as my favorite game on the system, so I am hugely excited for this. I actually just started up a new save file of it the other day.

Quite enjoyed the first, so the sequel will definitely be a buy from me. ^__^

AWWWWH YEEEEEAH.

If this had been a Gameboy game, it probably would have been my favorite. Hell, even though it's a eShop title, it's one of my favorite games on the 3DS.

The titles of their remaining 2012 releases sound a little iffy....but the second best eshop game (after Mighty Switch Force of course) getting a sequel is great news.  Hopefully they'll make a more manageable system for the sspecial abilities.

Awesome, great to see that Mutant Mudds is getting a sequel.

I want new special abilities! The super jump, rapid fire, and extend hover were good, but the super jump kind of negated the need for extend hover. Give me something new!

I'm really looking forward to it being released in Europe. I really hope they price it appropriately. There seems to be a tendency to overprice eShop games in Europe, and I often worry that sales are accordingly affected.
