The Rabbids of the Rayman Raving Rabbids series will star in their own adventure game developed by the team behind Beyond Good & Evil.

Ubisoft announced earlier this week that Rabbids Go Home, an adventure game starring the humorous characters from the Rayman Raving Rabbids series, will be released this holiday season. Developing the game is Ubisoft Montpellier, who are responsible for Beyond Good & Evil and the original Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Using a new engine specifically designed for Wii, Rabbids Go Home sees the titular characters tearing through the human world as they attempt to return to their home. According to a recent issue of Nintendo Power, the Rabbids believe that their home is the Moon. Players control two Rabbids, one inside of a shopping cart and another pushing it, and collect enough junk to build a tower to reach the Moon. There are different items that players can collect to give the Rabbids new abilities and power-ups that allow them to collect more junk.

UBISOFT® SAYS RABBIDS GO HOME

Raving Rabbids Break Out with First Standalone Title

SAN FRANCISCO – April 9, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announced that the Rabbids will receive their own standalone brand with the Holiday 2009 release of the comedy-adventure Rabbids Go Home. Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the team behind Beyond Good & Evil®, Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie and the original Rayman Raving Rabbids®, the game will benefit from a new engine designed specifically for the Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo, offering the Rabbids a hilarious adventure in a brand new universe.

The Rabbids are already beloved the world over, selling 6.5 million copies of their raving adventures and starring in their own series of videos that have kept web surfers laughing for years. Moving up to top billing with their own brand of games was a logical next step and fans will now be able to enjoy the fun in this humorous adventure game where the Rabbids unleash their insanity onto the human world as they attempt to return to their Rabbid home.

Look for more information on Rabbids Go Home in the May issue of Nintendo Power magazine.

poor rayman.  i actually enjoyed his game on the n64 they were fun.

PlugabugzApril 11, 2009

This is about time.

Rabbids should have been its own spinoff brand from the start.

Is that Rabbid wearing a thong?

TJ SpykeApril 11, 2009

Haha, I didn't notice that. I clicked on the image to see it closer up and the one on the ground is indeed wearing a thong.

Do want! Also a interesting note about this is Michel Ancel is the lead developer of this, it shares the same technology that powers beyond good and evil 2. Ubisoft thinks that this will be a AAA title and finally Beyond Good and Evil 2 is on hold until this game is completed.

Do want seconded!

I love games that are weird just for the sake of being weird.
I haven't played any of the Rayman Rabbids games but I might check out the first one now that it is cheap.

Out of all 3 Rayman Raving Rabbids games, TV party is the best one, especially if you have the Balance Board since the butt controlled mini-games are awesome.

Does that mean that BG&E2 is coming to the Wii?

& info on this game was leaked a week or so ago on the cover of the latest Nintendo Power. I wonder what took Ubi so long to formally announce it.

PeachylalaApril 11, 2009

It'll come as a on-rails adventure.

Prove me right, UBI!

I believe it's just Ubisoft and/or Ancel wants to prioritize Rabbids first because Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in the pre-production phase.

I think it's a great idea, the Rabbids are definitely good mascots (hell, I bought a Rabbid figure when I saw it in a store) and I didn't like the minigamey RRR too much (many of the minigames were annoying and often had control issues, never mind the pathetic situation if you ever try multiplayer with it).

The collecting part sounds a bit Katamari-esque...

It actually reminds me of the PSP episode of Southpark where Kenny Dies and the boys try to goto heaven to save him.
They basically built a tower out of whatever they could find in hopes that it would reach high enough to get to heaven

PeachylalaApril 13, 2009

Correction, BlackNMild. That episode was when Kenny went into a coma and Cartman tried to keep him on life support because he really wanted Kenny's PSP. It was basically a huge jab towards that lady that was stuck in a coma because her husband didn't want her to die or something.

The tower one was basically Kenny dying for real and SP taking a jab at that country singer who sung about 9/11.

Yes, I'm a South Park nerd. I need to watch the newer episodes sometime soon.
