The two acclaimed developers say they work well together because Mikami makes games "play good" and Suda makes "visuals good."
Shinji Mikami and Goichi Suda, also known as Suda 51, recently signed a deal with EA to publish an unrevealed game. In an interview with 1UP, they discussed the genesis of the upcoming game and their relationship with EA.
Apparently Suda had the idea for the game back when he was working on Killer 7. He showed it to Mikami who first thought "wow, this is amazing." According to the two developers, they complement each other very well with Mikami in charge of the action and Suda defining the visuals. EA completes the pair's skills by providing them with funds and staff. When asked about their relationship with EA, Suda said that "(their) relationship is extremely good."
They talked with other publishers but eventually settled with EA because they "understood the game and understood (their) approach to it." Suda added that since "EA produced Rock Band, they (understood) the 'soul of rock.'"
The interview concluded with a question asking if there will be an appearance by a "zany dude named Travis" like in Killer 7 and No More Heroes. "Travis? A secret, sorry," was all Suda had to say.
