Classic Stages Return in Brawl

Your favorite levels from Melee may still show up in the new Smash Bros.

The newest update to the official Smash Bros. DOJO!! blog is short but sweet, confirming after much speculation that "a number" of stages from the previous game, Super Smash Bros. Melee, will be included in Brawl. The only one shown so far is Temple, the massive stage set in Hyrule with upper platforms and underground tunnels. New screenshots depict new characters like Wario and Diddy Kong chasing each other through this popular battlefield.

From how this update is structured, it looks like more classic stages may be revealed in future blog posts. Also, Sakurai-san notes that the stages may have slight differences in geometry and even background music. For instance, the Temple stage has a new song remixed from Zelda II: Adventure of Link, and it can be heard at the link above.

Ah, the Temple, so many memories. Good to see it back.

It was bound to happen. Melee had the original stages. I'm still wondering if possibly all the good ones from Melee will show up and a remastered version of the original will show up. One thing would make the Temple complete would of been the tornadoes. Anyone else think that as well?

Why add Tornadoes to temple? Why not give us REAL classic stages... like Hyrule Castle?

Great to see the melee levels returning, especially Hyrule Temple. The music that was part of the update was great too.

Ah sweet, the final temple from Zelda II! One of my favorite Zelda songs!

Nintendo needs to go back to the mini-DVD, cause now that they have all the space of a regular sized DVD they are adding way too much stuff. I will never be able to finish this game and therefore never have a reason to take it out of my Wii and no reason to purchase any game after this one comes out. This game has so many modes, characters, stages, challenges, configurations, customizations, secrets, trophies, weapons, features and updates that I fear the effect this game will have on the rest of the market, especially in Japan.

I think the only thing this game is missing is a custom soundtrack option, but I'm sure that was planned for a future update too.

I suppose that's Nintendo's definition of next gen: "You can put loads more stuff in your games!"

What else do you want to listen to? Non-Nintendo music? The hell with that idea. The Nintendo music is the whole point. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Classic stages seemed like a given since they were featured in Melee. I don't except anything to be removed. Now they might rework a stage or two but they really just seem to be expanding. Maybe they won't have all the stages but the concept of classic stages was in Melee and that concept would naturally have carried over.

I wonder how hard it would be to bring in all the classic Melee and SSB stages... *drool*
