Final Fantasy IV made a clean sweep in so many other DS categories, it's hardly surprising that it is also NWR's pick for best Nintendo DS game of the year. What was initially characterized as a mindless cash-in has proven itself to be a masterful release that transcends its status as a remake.

Final Fantasy IV boasts some of the richest aural and visual experiences on the DS, and subtler updates to its gameplay and localization make Square's 1991 classic more engaging than ever. Those unacquainted with FFIV owe it to themselves to experience its engaging plot progression, beloved characters, and inspired boss battles. And for those who are, this is the way to relive it.
