2008 NWR Awards

Conclusion

by Jon Lindemann - February 8, 2009, 2:38 pm EST

Every year we like to recognize the best in gaming on Nintendo consoles.

In retrospect, 2008 was one of the best years in Nintendo's history. Sales of both the Wii and DS were through the roof, and both systems had banner years in terms of software (despite a noticeable lack of big-name Wii titles in the second half of 2008, having Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, and Animal Crossing: City Folk released in the same year is a good year in our books). 2009 is already looking promising with titles like Sin and Punishment 2, Punch-Out!!, MADWORLD, The Conduit, GTA: Chinatown Wars, and Dragon Quest IX in the pipeline.

On the hardware front, the coming year is already slated to bring us Wii MotionPlus and the Nintendo DSi. These are two huge releases for their respective platforms, introducing features sure to influence the design of Nintendo games still to come. There's plenty to look forward to, and Nintendo World Report will be right there for all of it.
