Krome Studios in Development of Next Installment of Best Selling TY the Tasmanian Tiger Series

Leading Australian Game Developer Keeps the Spirit of the Thought to Be Extinct Tasmanian Tiger Alive in Third Installment of Whimsical, Kid-Friendly 3-D Character Action Series

BRISBANE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2005-- Krome Studios, Australia's largest game development company, announces the development of the third installment in the company's best-selling TY the Tasmanian Tiger(TM) series. TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3(a) follows the heels of its award-winning predecessors which have sold close to two million units to date. The game will be available for multiple current next generation systems in late 2005.

"The games have captured the heart of millions worldwide which we're very proud of," says CEO and Co-founder Robert Walsh. "Because of that reason, we've set the bar high for ourselves to deliver fans another quality experience in the next installment and we believe we're well underway to achieve our goals."

Players will enjoy an exciting storyline that features the main characters from the previous games while introducing a bevy of new characters including a new main enemy now that Boss Cass is defeated and behind bars for good. In this next chapter, players will embark on a series of new missions and challenges filled with new and upgraded weapons and vehicles. Like its predecessors, TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3 will feature a unique array of interesting native animals inspired by the Australian Outback including the loveable TY, who is based on the thought-to-be-extinct Tasmanian tiger.

Currently in development, TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3 will offer increased multi-player support and will feature several technological upgrades to further enhance the overall gameplay experience. More information on the TY the Tasmanian Tiger property -- including publishing/distribution plans along with the Film Roman animation partnership -- will be shared at a later date. You know you're churning out the games too damn fast if you're already working on the third part of a franchise that started this console generation.

Didn't GTA start last generation and that the 1st and 2nd sucked so bad that no one had even herd of it until it went 3D?

1) GTA started before this generation, but never really took off until GTA3 came out for the PS2

2) kingvudu, you forgot Ratchet and Clank...and NBA Street....and Burnout...and....*trails off*

Crash Bandicoot and Spyro went to three on the Playstation and no one cares about them anymore.
Sonic went to four on the Genesis and has never been the system seller he once was again.

One exception though is Mario who had a trilogy on the NES yet remained popular and critically acclaimed on the SNES.

But yeah the rule is no more than 2 games per console if you want to stay relevent and have people actually care.

KDR_11kMarch 08, 2005

Well, Mario 2 was just more and harder levels or a port of a completely unrelated game depending on where you live...

EDIT: Perhaps we should make that "3 per gen without major innovation".
Though Final Fantasy and I guess some other Square games are completely unaffected by this...

There's no problem here, a series only gets stale if you play every single game in it, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger isn't aimed at hardcore gamers who buy 50 games a year, the majority of people who buy this won't give a crap.

Tell that to the twelve million people who bought San Andreas.

"Tell that to the twelve million people who bought San Andreas."

I mean that since GTA has released over 2 games for this generation that its selling power will be greatly dimished next generation. The rule goes into effect the next gen when the previous hot seller becomes largely ignored.
