The publisher sees a viable mature market on Wii.

Sega recently revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that their strategy of targeting the mature market should be successful over the long-term. While House of the Dead: Overkill didn’t sell millions of copies, it proved profitable for the company according to Gary Dunn of Sega Europe.

"Whilst it had a rather sharp tail at full price, they do bubble away at a lower price point for a long time. You get your money back and a bit on full price, but over the years, if we do the final product return on investment, profits come from the lower price point."

Luckily for those who didn't get the limited edition, the codes also work in the regular release. Once the codes are entered, options are activated in the Cheat menu.

The creative force behind Cooking Mama discusses new brands, and how the Wii and DS's appeal helped them recover from financial trouble.

A few years ago, Majesco was known for their financial troubles. Highly-regarded titles such as Tim Schaffer's Psychonauts failed to gain the profit the company needed to stay alive, but thanks to the expanded audience appeal of both the Wii and DS, Majesco has never been in better shape. The Cooking Mama series alone has sold over four million copies domestically across all four iterations.

Gui Karyo, Majesco's executive VP of operations, reaffirms the company's new expanded audience tactic in an interview with Gamasutra by saying that "the goal of launching [the Go Play] brand, ultimately, is to create an idea that resonates with a consumer across a wide variety of products. And the idea that we're excited about with Go Play is people getting up, running around, and playing in a group or family gameplay dynamic that is very closely aligned with Wii."

IGN talks to Eric Nofsinger of High Voltage Software about The Conduit sales, motion control pressure, and on-rails shooters.

Last week marked the release of the highly-anticipated Wii first-person shooter The Conduit from High Voltage Software. In celebration of the game's release, IGN sat down with Chief Creative Officer Eric Nofsinger and talked about what they expect of this major release.

One of the most important topics of discussion was The Conduit's sales.

After being asked if High Voltage feels any pressure and if they have any expectations, Nofsinger explained that "[they] want people to play the game because we think that anyone who does is going to enjoy the experience. As to sales estimates, we humbly hope it outsells every game ever made. [laughs] Seriously, we sincerely hope we have earned Wii owner's support in our efforts. The more support we receive, the more we will funnel those profits into even better original games for them."

Xseed President Jun Iwasaki talks about how game sales affect what they localize, the likelihood of Retro Game Challenge 2, and the company's history.

Xseed Games has gained a loyal following thanks to their efforts in bringing obscure Japanese games to the Americas. Most recently they gained the publishing rights to Namco Bandai's Wii role-playing game Fragile and brought Drill Sergeant Mindstrong for WiiWare. Silicon Era sat down with Xseed President Jun Iwasaki and discussed future projects and how game sales decide what games they localize.

One example of how game sales affect what they localize lies in their North American release of Namco Bandai's Retro Game Challenge for DS, which came out at the start of the year. While a sequel already exists in Japan, Xseed is struggling to justify its localization. The title has to sell around 100,000 copies, according to Iwasaki. Ken Berry, Xseed's director of publishing, explained that Retro Game Challenge 2's chances of being localized "looks very unlikely."
