"Spawn: Armageddon" Sings Hellish Tune with One of Today's Hottest Artists; Namco's "Spawn: Armageddon" Features Music from Marilyn Manson's New Album

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 2003--Interactive entertainment publisher Namco Hometek Inc. announced today that "Spawn: Armageddon," the Todd McFarlane-inspired action adventure title, will feature music from one of today's most talked-about and controversial musicians, Marilyn Manson. In what is seen by many to be the perfect pairing, Manson's title "Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth" from the album "The Golden Age of Grotesque" is featured in the "Spawn: Armageddon" video game soundtrack. Video game fans will have an opportunity to enjoy the gothic-like "Spawn: Armageddon" soundtrack in the game this November when the title ships for the Nintendo GameCube(TM), the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox(R) video game system from Microsoft.

"We anticipate Spawn fans everywhere will be just as excited about our recent collaboration with Marilyn Manson on the 'Spawn: Armageddon' project as we are," said Stacey Hirata, Director of Marketing for Namco Hometek Inc. "With a unique personality such as Spawn's, we were faced with the challenge of implementing a soundtrack that not only made sense to the game's theme, but one that also added to the already established dark storyline. In Marilyn Manson, we feel like our team was able secure the very best talent that music had to offer and we hope Spawn enthusiasts will agree."

"Spawn: Armageddon" is a 3rd person action/adventure title, based on Todd McFarlane's best-selling comic book character. With a dark, shadowy storyline that encompasses the first 99 comic books in the Spawn series, "Spawn: Armageddon" will feature Spawn's infamous living symbiotic costume, Hell Powers, Agony -- the axe that can only be wielded by Spawn, and an arsenal of weapons including a missile launcher, sawed off shotgun, mini-guns, sub machine guns and more. Encountering enemies such as the Meat Puppet, Angel Warrior, Berserker and the Whip Demon, Spawn must battle his way through 23 missions with interactive and destructible environments as he struggles to break free from the forces of Heaven and Hell.

"Spawn is a very distinctive character that has an attitude all his own, and I am ecstatic that they have found music that can match the attitude of our character," said Todd McFarlane, creator of the Spawn comic book series.

EA Picks Up European Spawn Rights

Namco thinks EA would do a better job of it across the pond, apparently.
