Video-Senki has struck again with more great words from NCL president Hiroshi Yamauchi.
Japanese gaming industry magazine Zaikai recently conducted an interview with Hiroshi Yamauchi and Video-Senki was kind enough to post it. Yamauchi says some pretty harsh words (what else is new) for the game industry regarding the future of game development, online games, and the state of the industry itself. Below are a couple of the nicer quotes from Yamauchi-san...
-On the downturn of the industry:
"There really are just an overwhelmingly huge number of people out there that know nothing about the business of games...They give money to people that really should be unemployed, and they in turn round up some friends, start a company and begin creating software."
-On what gamer's want:
"The average gamer's perspective has gradually shifted over the years. They're getting sick of games that are nothing but graphics and force; they want something to play that's actually fun."
-On the dangers of rampant multi-platform development:
"If users can play the same game on every single system out there, then there'll be no reason to buy one system over the other."
-On the trend of making online games:
"Personally, I think that most people going on and on about the net know nothing about video games. People who don't get game creation are going on and on about networked games -- probably because they can't come up with any better ideas themselves."
Love him or hate him, agree or disagree, Yamauchi-san is always good for some nice quotes. Head over to Video-Senki to see the whole thing for yourself.
