There is definitely something to be said about Marketing and Promotion. It's a sad world when most average people out there don't even know that there are 2 new Nintendo systems coming out next year. "Dolphin what?" is an answer you'll get from a lot of gamers. Why is this you ask?

Well outside of the obvious,(because Nintendo needs to get the word out) my belief is that these people are actually just plain stupid. :) Kidding but it's truely a sad world out there. PC Data polled 1500 people on which next generation system they will be purchasing. The results may disturb you.

PC Data surveyed 1,500 home Internet users between May 15-18 to produce the results which demonstrated Sony rules in the next-gen console war. People planning to buy a game console clearly prefer the forthcoming Playstation 2.

Matt Gravett, PC Data's game analyst commented, "The online gaming experience should elevate the console market to the next level, with new and abundant revenue opportunities for manufacturers. However, consumers are not expecting to pay more to game online via the next generation of consoles. Hardware prices and Internet access costs must be kept low or else the online console gaming movement could stall."

Other platforms faired as follows, Dreamcast 22.4 percent, Dolphin 17.2 percent, and X-Box 11.9 percent.
