Look for black caps and you would win a Nintendo DS. But please, excuse yourself if you burp.

Jones Soda Co. Announces 2005 'Under the Black Cap' Promotion with Nintendo of America

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 22, 2005--Jones Soda Co. (the "Company" or "Jones Soda") today announced that it is holding an under-the-cap promotion sweepstakes with Nintendo of America. The promotion will occur August 1, 2005 through October 31, 2005 in the United States and Western Canada.

The Jones Soda "Under the Black Cap" promotion is open to individuals who are 13 years of age or older. The Jones Soda bottles will have specially marked black caps during the promotion period and the labels will also include information about the promotion on the back. With Nintendo as a promotional partner, Jones has created limited edition labels with an image of Nintendo's upcoming Nintendo DS(TM) title, Metroid® Prime Hunters. The limited edition labels are on three Jones Soda flavors including Blue Bubblegum, Green Apple and Fufu Berry.

Peter van Stolk, C.E.O. of Jones Soda Co. stated, "Nintendo targets the same teen demographic as Jones Soda, which makes this a perfect cross-marketing promotion."

To participate in this promotion, you must collect five Jones Soda bottle caps with letters that spell out J.O.N.E.S. and submit the caps for a chance to win the Grand Prize or the First Prize.

There will be one Grand Prize winner who will receive a flat screen TV, a Nintendo GameCube(TM) video game system, two Nintendo DS video game systems, three Nintendo GameCube games, two Nintendo DS video games as well as a chance to win $25,000 in cash. There will also be 75 first prize winners who will each win a Nintendo DS video game system.

Winners will be selected, from among all eligible entries received in a random drawing to be conducted on or around November 15, 2005 by The American Sweepstakes & Promotion Co., an independent judging organization.

Individuals will also have an opportunity to win instant prizes if they find the "instant win" caps.

I don't think I've ever heard of Jones soda.

Bill AurionAugust 22, 2005

Wasn't that green apple soda that came with the Starfox Adventures preorder (along with toilet paper tpg.gif ) a Jones soda?

ShyGuyAugust 22, 2005

Jones Soda is pretty regional isn't it? Do you guys have it in the midwest and east coast?

Hostile CreationAugust 22, 2005

Oh, wow.
Wow.
Awesome.
I love Jones soda (have several cans in the fridge at this very moment).
I love Nintendo.
THIS IS A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

nickmitchAugust 22, 2005

I LOVE Jones soda!!!! This makes me want to go buy it. . .

Nile BoogieAugust 22, 2005

I live in Philly and never heard of Jones soda. I don't think it's east of the Mississippi.

Hostile CreationAugust 22, 2005

I live right on the Mississippi, just to the East of it. We have it. face-icon-small-tongue.gif
Currently to the west at college, and it's here, too. Anyway, you just have to look hard for it sometimes. I found it in Target yesterday, but when I'm farther east I'll need to look in more specialized places, like World Market or Barnes & Noble (coffee area, coffee shops may have it but I know I've seen it there).

dafunkk12August 22, 2005

Yeah, I live in Florida. Your best bets to find it is to look in Targets (Super Targets might be more likely to carry it) and the Starbucks in Barnes & Noble bookstores. In fact, Target is the cannery for Jones according to the box. While there's no photos on the cans (thankfully, as a Jones photo collector), there are still several on the case.

RennyAugust 22, 2005

They have Jones in the NE. Not a fan. Nintendo could've saved us some money and put the game pieces in bags of sugar.

I don't think this beats the EveryTenMinutes.com promotion that Mountain Dew has with the Xbox 360...

steveyAugust 23, 2005

I never seen 1 janes soda and live west of Trenton so it never be up the East cost and is that the soda you mixs with pop rock to make min pipe bomb?

TMWAugust 23, 2005

Its all over the place down here. And I live in in the middle of nowhere (New Mexico, to be precise).
However, this is rather awesome. Jones is cheap (like 79 cents a bottle), so I might start drinking more of it, in lieu of the whole "Nintendo Sponsor" thing.

Jones soda comes in CANS? I never knew that! Wow! This site is just packed with info!

Hostile CreationAugust 25, 2005

Yeah, they have big rectangular boxes with twelve cans in them.

Mop it upAugust 25, 2005

It's true! I went to Target to check it out! The twelve packs are so much cheaper than the four packs of bottles! I grabbed a Green Apple and a Berry Lemonade! DELICIOUS!!!

Mr. SegaliAugust 25, 2005

Lame... here in San Diego, all I see are the bottles. It's flippin' good stuff though. Fufu Berry is great.

KDR_11kAugust 25, 2005

Cans went out of fashion here after the mandatory 25 cent deposit on soda cans was introduced...

ib2kool4u912August 25, 2005

Never heard of it here in New Jersey.

Jones doesn't advertise, so I'm sure there are a lot of people who haven't heard of it! Check your local convenient store or gas station; those types of stores usually carry it! *chugs green apple soda before clicking reply*

I think we have a Jones employee in our midst. =P

ToruresuAugust 26, 2005

Jones what? I live in Puerto Rico...maybe that's why I've never heard/seen this soda before.

IceColdAugust 26, 2005

They have it in quite a few places here. I've never tried it though. Hmm

"I think we have a Jones employee in our midst."

Nope, just one crazy nut who loves Jones! And about the advertise thing, this is what it says on the back of each bottle:

"Ya gotta make a lining somehow; we chose the beverage world. Good old soda with a twist. No hidden meanings, no billion dollar ad campaigns. At Jones, we want you to buy a lot of soda and recycle the bottles. The labels are kinda like our minds - always changing. Run with the little guy... create some change."

I could recite it in my sleep! The cans don't have anything on them, they're pretty drab to look at, but the soda inside is so... so... *chugs a Barry Lemonade*

Sweet and disinteresting.
