well this was expected
since they gave the "excusive" gamecube wrestlemania brand to Xbox

FamicomMay 03, 2005

I had (and am still having) a ton of fun with the first game, so here's hoping they don't screw something up. Though I wish they would finally let it catch up to the Smackdown series and have six wrestlers at once instead of four, I get the feeling that won't happen. All the more reason to look forward to next gen.

The only reason the wrestlemania brand went to xbox because THQ wanted to get rid of the awful though of RAW games. And there wasnt a wrestling game on xbox last year because of smackdown vs raw.

No need to fret. As soon as Wrestlemania hit the Xbox, its first 'Box incarnation was crap. The first prints had a glitch that couldn't let you play on Live LOL. Thankfully, they're issuing a recall, but that's not the best way to kick off the Wrestlemania series again.

The ulitmate irony here is that WWE somewhat favors the Xbox (I remember they had The Rock speak at CES 2001, not to mention tons of Xbox commericals during their programming) Yet the Playstation series is considered the best, with the 'Cube nipping at its proveribal heels.

Maybe they should include a feature that if you have a CAW on a DOR 1 savefile, pick up where you left off? Just a thought...

Oh I wish.... I have 30 CAWs that I'd really like not to remake all over again given the amount of detail CAW creation this gen entails, but since DoR 2 is getting an updated graphics engine, I don't think they'd do it.

xbox sponsered a ppv if I remember correctly
I dont think WWE favours anyone, I remember a old mag had a interview years ago when wrestlemania2000 came out and the ps1 game...all the wrestlers in there interviews said they liked W2000 better and they played it on the bus (rock, D-lo, godfather/goodfather and someone else)
I think there just normal people.
thu the whole microsoft is american might help xbox, since WWE is so proamerican, and seems to mock every country which isnt thier's.

anyway DC had 8 players...why are we stuck with 4?
8player wrestling online would kickass, or expand it and make 16player with royal rumble. 8 ppl fight in ring and the other 8 can beat the crap outa each over backstage while they wait for the time limit to allow them to go in

notable: Gamespot gave wrestlemania on xbox a 4.5

And we also used to have games with 60+ characters and 4 outfits, but we don't get that anymore either. It's because they've been focusing on making the models more and more detailed, while sacrificing other things that could make the game MORE FUN.

Raw 2 is hilarious to play with mates. We stopped a Royal Rumble to have duelling matches with the ringsteps, complete with token "CHAAAAAAARGE" warcries.

You're kidding right? Did you even know that they've toured Japan, Australia and Europe recently? The wrestlers love seeing the fans around the world. Stop spouting garbage and realise that the publisher probably has more input on which system a game is made for than the actual IP owner.

I have this awesome idea. How about I pay the TV man with money hats to broadcast adverts for my imaginary Xbox game during a time when men age 18-29 are likely to be watching? You know, the wrestling is something they would watch. ITS A DATE THEN!
Sheesh, do people not realise that money talks? I really think that its clever marketing, not bias, is responsible for many Xbox adverts on during WWE broadcasts.
There were a lot of adverts for Smackdown vs Raw around the time it was released. Same thing for Raw 2 when it came out. Even now they're running some competition right now to win a copy of Blade: Trinity, signed by HHH, to co-incide with the release to DVD of the movie. Notice a pattern?

The WWE doesn't favour any console. In fact they have probably the most brilliant multiplatform strategy in the industry. There are WWE games on all consoles so like EA's strategy with Madden every console owner is a potential customer. However the WWE also has each console get different games so a hardcore fan or someone who owns multiple consoles has reason to buy all the games. If someone buys Madden on PS2 odds are they won't buy the Cube or Xbox Maddens. But with each console getting a different game based on the same licence the odds of someone buying all three are much higher.

Of course all of the WWE games for this gen suck so it's not a perfect plan but it's still pretty good.

I havnt followed WWF/WWE for more then 10years for no reason
Yes they have mocked canada, england, australia, france and japan
they have all featured in story lines that make them look like jokes, its common every year *indeed lol*
I wasnt trashing the company, I was just pointing it out.

Of course it does. I should have been more specific of what I said earlier. MS no doubt gave WWE some money hats even before the Xbox launched (As I mentioned earlier, The Rock was singing its praises during CES 2001). I remember during its launch, they had Test (For those who remember, he was a tall dude who was a former bodyguard to Motely Crue, he teamed with Albert' A-Train' with Trish Stratus to form T&A...) playing the 'Box. Out ofall the console makers, MS gets more coverage on average. Last week on Smackdown they did a simulation match of the Fatal Four Way main event with Wrestlemania XXI, not Smackdown Vs Raw. Its these little things that add up.

Am I saying that's a bad thing? No it isn't. The WWE won't bite a hand that feeds it. Ironic? You bet your ass it is.
