There is not no spoon

The Matrix is coming to multiple, but unspecified next-gen platforms. It's to be developed by Shiny and published by Interplay.

IGNcube published a story today on yet another next-gen game using a popular license. Did everyone forget how to be original all of a sudden? No matter. At least this license is awesome, unlike some previously mentioned licenses. Yes, the Matrix will be coming to "...all major next-generation platforms..." but Interplay "... would not offer specifics in regards to which ones are currently targeted." The game will be developed by Shiny, and the lead designer of Earthworm Jim, Dave Perry, is at the helm for this game as well.

In light of the number of movie-to-game failures in the past, it's clear that Perry has his work cut out for him, but he's not worried.

This is not a licensing deal, it's a collaboration. We have complete and utter access to the making of the movie. We have total access to everything. You can go ahead and guess what you want as to what that entails, but this is not a little game. It's huge.

Is Shiny up to the task? Only time will tell. Is this game coming to the GameCube? That depends on whether or not Interplay considers the GameCube a major next-generation platform. I'd put my money on yes.
