Madworld’s sales do not change the outlook for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

The news of Madworld’s disappointing first month sales made many fans and analysts question the viability of mature titles on the Wii. Capcom’s Masachika Kawata, producer of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, does not see a bleak fate for the latest installment in the series.

"I personally have no fear (about sales of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles), Resident Evil is a massive brand on a worldwide scale and you can't really compare it to MadWorld.”

To Capcom, the Resident Evil brand is an established one that has recognition amongst many casual gamers. Both Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, released in 2007, sold over a million copies worldwide.

Kawata concludes with the belief that Darkside Chronicles will reach casual players. "The Wii has a lot of casual gamers and we didn't want to leave anyone behind."

Wii proves games won't reach casual players without sufficient non-casual TV advertising, at the very least.

I'd like to announce that I am not part of the problem. My MadWorld purchase will be reflected in the April NPD. that is all.

Oh RE: DC looks like a definite purchase at this point too.

Example? Metroid Prime 3...?

Stop the presses!  Capcom states that their Big Name Horror franchise has nothing to fear from poor sales of a New IP Beat 'Em Up!  Never saw that one coming...

This Capcom sounds pretty confident in their $30 RE ports.

Eh? RE is going to have a casual mode?

Madworld will be a slow burner. It'll get a couple hundred thousand in sales I think.

It does seem quite difficult to grasp for the analysts and gaming media.

The REmake is indeed played with just the Remote.

It is? Not even with the Nunchuck?

Who needs the nunchuck for RE0/1?

Hold the remote sideways and you have awesome digital controls because having good analogue movement in a survival horror game is over-rated, 1 arms your weapon, 2 is the all important "run along the wall and press this button to check stuff" button.

and thats it!

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 06, 2009

I don't think it has a "classic sideways pad" control scheme, it's designed for one-handed wang action.  Let me find the details.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 06, 2009

It actually does:

REmakeWiimake:
- 4 control schemes
- one control scheme allows you to play with the Wiimote in ‘NES-style’
- one control scheme lets you shake the Wiimote to get in/out of firing mode

RE Zero makes use of the nunchuck due to multiple simultaneous characters:
- Remote + Nun Named Chuck
- Cube last-gen controller
- Classic PlayStation Dongle

LMAO That was a joke post! At one point i was going to lie and say that you'd have to use waggle to fire off your guns but i thought that'd sound too fake..

oh god i'm sad now.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 06, 2009

yeah but I wasn't clear on the details myself.

I gotta know
before I troll

Darkside Chronicles is basically the RE2 remake Mikami never gave us... and I'm sure his vision wouldn't have been on-rails either.

Still looking good though.
