Viewtiful Joe is hands down the craziest game to come out in a long time. It takes an old genre, the beat ‘em up, and revives it with a totally new sense of style. The comic book cel-shading brings the game to life and the campy script and voice acting give it a wacky charm that’s undeniable. This is the kind of game that you can sit back and have fun with while also laughing your head off. Cementing the game’s place as a sleeper is its immense challenge. Mastering the game will require reflexes like those of a superhero. Viewtiful Joe is easily the best game nobody not enough people played in 2003.
