Nintendo hints at a new “third-pillar” hardware platform

After a lackluster E3 showing, things were looking down for Nintendo. But, only a few short months later they dropped the bomb. The company announced a brand new hardware platform. It wasn’t the next GameCube or the successor to the GBA, but rather something completely different. It definitely shocked the industry, and with the recent announcement that this “third pillar” is a dual-screened handheld gaming system, it was just able to beat the runner up for Biggest Surprise of 2003.
