Mario & Luigi is loaded with something, and that something is style. This game’s art design is wondrous, with a style that manages to stay true to the Mario universe while also branching out with its own certain flair. A host of new character designs spice up the plumbers’ aging library of foes. On top of that, the game features an amazing amount of great sprite animation and rotational effects. It had a hard time against Golden Sun’s very impressive graphics, but Mario & Luigi’s zany art style pulled it ahead to take the prize.
