Every year we like to recognize the best in gaming on Nintendo consoles.
Wii - Best Casual or Non-Game
Amidst the deluge of casual-oriented games coming down the chute from both Nintendo and third-party developers, one “non-game” stands head and shoulders above the competition: Wii Fit. It’s difficult to call it a game OR a real exercise tool, but you can’t deny that it’s damn fun.
And while it might not burn calories like a stair-stepper would, Wii Fit does provide one benefit that you won’t find in a gym: awareness of your center of balance. After a few weeks of Wii Fit, you’ll walk taller and straighter, you’ll bend at the pelvis instead of the lower back, and any joint pain you bring to the experience will diminish. The individual games are short but doable, and if you keep up with it you can build a pretty decent sweat.
You'll likely wind up using Wii Fit on a daily basis, and wince whenever the Balance Board character scolds you if you didn't play the day before. Unlike most video games that give you a false sense of accomplishment, Wii Fit makes you do something real! That’s why Wii Fit is the Best Casual or Non-Game on the Wii in 2008.
