A busy Poke segment kicked off the Direct.
The first featured games in today's Nintendo Direct were a blowout for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
The game will feature Sun and Moon's postgame legendary Pokémon Necrozma, who has captured Solgaleo in the new Dusk Mane form or Lunala in the Dawn Wings form. Lycanroc's Dusk Form also received an exclusive Z-Move. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will also feature a new Ultra Beast per game: Burst for Ultra Sun and Assembly for Ultra Moon.

The next couple of months will be good for throwbacks.
A couple of throwback Switch titles have their release dates locked down.
Thimbleweed Park, the SCUMM Engine-inspired adventure title from the creators of the Monkey Island series, will be hitting the Switch on September 21. The game has already released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PCs.

And bug fixes. (But no stability.)
One of the chief complaints with the Nintendo Switch Online App has been resolved.
Version 1.1 of the app, available now on the iOS App Store and Google Play, allows for voice chat to be used while other apps have focus or while the phone is in sleep mode.
Other bug fixes were also implemented in the update.

Another title releasing in a very crowded October.
Nicalis Inc has announced its next game to hit the Nintendo Switch, Tiny Barbarian DX. The retro-inspired 2-D platform adventure is set to release for the Switch on October 10th. The game will be available to purchase from the Nintendo E-Shop as well as physically from major retailers.

A nice walking tour of New Donk City
The next Nintendo Direct will air this Wednesday.
Nintendo has announced a Direct presentation for Wednesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. Eastern time (3 p.m. Pacific, 2300 BST). The presentation will be 45 minutes long and cover Switch and Nintendo 3DS titles including “new details on Super Mario Odyssey”.

Lumo keeps continuing the trend of Steam games releasing on Switch.
Today it was announced that Lumo, a retro indie game originally released on Steam, will be coming to the Switch in October. No set date has been confirmed, however we do know that it will be released as both a digital download and a physical release in major retailers.

Rockstar Games returns to Nintendo platforms after eight years away.
Mark your calendars because on November 14, Rockstar Games will be releasing an enhanced port of their 2011 game LA Noire on the Switch as well as other consoles.
This new port will include the full original game as well as all of the additional downloadable content. The Switch will even receive specific enhancements, a Joy-Con mode with gyroscopic and gesture-based controls, over-the-shoulder camera, and touch-based controls.

Europe and sales slightly delayed, unfortunately.
As a new job for the author looms, there's some new games hitting the Nintendo systems this week. For North America, there's a couple of new retail Switch games in R.B.I. Baseball 2017 (review coming as soon as I finish checking out all the ballparks) and LEGO Worlds. But the big movers are on 3DS, where Monster Hunter Stories drops this week with the followup of Metroid: Samus Returns's preload now being available.

It's going to be a really busy week in October.
Microids has announced that the release date for Syberia 1 on Nintendo Switch will be October 20.
Syberia 1 revolves around the story of Kate Walker, a young New York lawyer who is made responsible to oversee the sale of a factory hidden in the French Alps. This leads her on a journey across Eastern Europe which includes meeting colorful characters and a mythical island.

88 Heroes plus a few more coming to Nintendo Switch on October 2.
This morning, Rising Star Games announced the release date of 88 Heroes - 98 Heroes Edition for the Nintendo Switch. On October 2 in North America, and October 10 everywhere else, you'll be able to download the game through the eShop or pick up a physical version from major retailers.
Both versions will include all of the existing DLC, as well as a future pack called "H8 Mode Activate."

Save up your money, October is getting busier.
In what is turning out to be a very busy week in October, Alliance Digital Media has announced that it will be publishing a special version of the Polykid-developed Poi. The special Explorer Edition will be available on October 23 and will feature new and exclusive content. A physical version will be available in major retailers on the same day for those looking to save space on their SD cards.

We've got details about the port to the Nintendo Switch.
Resident Evil: Revelations 1 and 2 will be released on the Nintendo Switch on November 28 everywhere except Japan (where it will come out on November 30) according to publisher Capcom.

A new Switch firmware is available that will bring a new part of the world into your Splatoon 2 team.
In addition to the usual "General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience", the update enables online play for five major countries in South America. Players in the following countries can now partake in online play: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru.

The Nindies @ Night even ahead of PAX West 2017 featured another Shovel Knight related announcement.
Yacht Club Games have announced a 3-pack of Shovel Knight series Amiibo featuring the stars of the three expansions: Plague Knight, Specter Knight and King Knight. The new Amiibo will add exclusive armor sets, new challenge stages and fairy companions to the game.

A cheap price to pay to create original characters (DO NOT STEAL)
The rash of original characters is about ten weeks out.
Sonic Forces was confirmed for a November 7 release today in a Sega press statement. The 3D hedgehog adventure will also have a lower price point as all versions are launching with a MSRP of US$39.99/C$54.99.
