It's a gala event and all the stars are turning out to see who all the winners are! Check out who and what ruled, and reeked in 2001! Let the awards begin!

Best gameplay Award - GameCube:

Pikmin

To paraphrase a popular fast food chain; “In the land of originality, Pikmin is king.” – Mike Orlando

I'm going to pretend this category actually means "Most Addictive" and choose Pikmin. I must have played it thirty hours in three days...there has to be some health code against that. – Jonathan Metts

Who would have thought that leading a bunch of plant creatures could be so much fun. The gameplay is composed of seamlessly interconnected sequences of fighting, collecting, exploring and puzzle solving. It's the seamless interface that makes these otherwise run of the mill tasks so much fun, not to mention the ability to control the fate of hundreds of Pikmin. – David Trammell

Oh yeah, you can feel the Miyamoto in this game. Wonderful graphics and an engaging soundtrack aside, this game has the most innovative gameplay I’ve seen on the GameCube yet. This is video game crack at its highest quality. – Billy Berghammer

What an utterly odd/engrossing/demanding play experience there is to be had here. Multi-tasking and often rock-solid execution are needed in order to play this game to its fullest and the experience is wonderfully refreshing. – Justin Nation

I spent hours just circling the Pikmin around Olimar with the C stick. Along with clever puzzles as to how to get the parts to your ship taking as little casualties as possible, this is a game where you use your noodle to the max. – Jeff Shirley

Runner Up: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3
