Wii - Game of the Year

Nintendo World Report (finally) honors 2007's best games.

Every year a handful of titles really stand out. 2007 was no different. So, without further ado...

Wii - Game of the Year

The NWR Award

Super Mario Galaxy

It’s not just graphics, sound, or control that make a great game. It’s awesomeness. I haven’t had this much fun playing a video game since Super Mario Bros. 3. Like its ancestor, Super Mario Galaxy sucks you in and consumes you. And after you think you’re done, you realize that the adventure is only half over. And even after you finish that, there’s more to do. And the best part is this: you never get sick of it. Galaxy balances the line between challenging and frustrating at times, but it never gets old. Gorgeous to watch, breathtaking to hear, and amazingly fun to play, Super Mario Galaxy is our Wii Game of the Year.

Runner-up: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Retro ties off the "Phazon Trilogy" with their best game to date, seemingly leaving no room for improvement. The gripping story only helps elevate a game already packed with award-winning features like looks, sound, and control. Corruption features some of the most tense and challenging gameplay I’ve ever encountered, but there was never a point where I wasn’t having fun. And isn’t that what really matters?
