2007 NWR Awards

Publisher of the Year

Nintendo World Report (finally) honors 2007's best games.

Like developers, publishers are only as good as their last game. 2007 saw more than a few publishers release a string of amazing titles.

Publisher of the Year

The NWR Award

Nintendo

2007 was a busy year for Nintendo. On the DS they published a new generation of Pokemon and revised the Zelda franchise with Phantom Hourglass. On the Wii they released perhaps the best Metroid Prime title to date and the critical tour de force Super Mario Galaxy. These titles would be enough to earn them our 2007 Publisher of the Year Award, but other games like Battalion Wars 2, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, and Super Paper Mario put them even further beyond their nearest competition. Even the delay of Super Smash Bros. Brawl couldn't hold Nintendo back. Let's hope they have more goodness in store for us in 2008.

Runner-up: Capcom

Capcom has brought a couple of fabulous original franchises to both Wii and DS, with Zach and Wiki and the second and third chapters of Phoenix Wright released in 2007. Resident Evil graced the Wii twice, with RE4: Wii Edition achieving great success and Umbrella Chronicles offering support for the Wii Zapper. Capcom's 2007 game portfolio for Nintendo platforms was outstanding.
