DS - Best Online

Nintendo World Report (finally) honors 2007's best games.

The DS has been online for a few years now. 2007 provided us with a selection of DS titles with Wi-Fi Connection support, and a few of them pushed DS online gaming to new levels.

DS - Best Online

The NWR Award

Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl

There is no better feeling that beating the tar out of an 8-year-old girl in Greece whose best Pokémon was a Lv. 12 Mothrim. Your enormous Lv. 74 Tyranitar sure showed her! But just to be nice and, really, because Magicarp are just so common with a Super Rod, you trade her one of the useless fish for a Tauros, which you don’t have yet. None of this would be possible without Wi-Fi (unless you happen to live in Greece), so Pokémon Diamond/Pearl is unquestionably the Best Online DS game of the year.

Runner-up: Picross DS

After years of being frozen out of western territories, Picross found a perfect home on the DS as part of the Touch Generations line. But for all its appeal to Sudoku-obsessed casual gamers, Picross DS presents a robust set of online features seldom seen in Nintendo-published titles. Online multiplayer gives gamers a chance to compete against fellow Picrossers around the world, and friends can exchange personally created levels. But a consistently supported body of downloadable content (drawn from past entries in the series) has done even more to extend the already impressive lifespan of this superb puzzler.
